I made this bread today and it came out excellent. It rises high and has a lovely light flavor and a nice crust. I cooked it in the regular oven, and used non-instant oats. Some people seem to find this recipe sticky, but with all bread recipes, it is affected by your flour, the humidity, etc. So during the first 5 minutes you can either add water or add flour to get the right consistency for you. In this recipe, you must also consider that the oats will take 10-15 minutes to soak up all the moisture they are going to, so it is best to leave it a little sticky in the beginning to counter that. Another reason I like this recipe is that it has simple ingredients, but the result is extraordinary. Thanks so much for the recipe, I plan on using it often!

What a nice loaf of bread! Slightly sweet and nutty with medium texture, this was delicious plain and toasted.

Very nice tasting oat bread that was popular with everyone. It did sink a little bit after rising but despite this still made a very good loaf. I would add some gluten flour to this to stop this from happening.

This bread was fantastic — and the name is true — it is very nice and light. I was surprised that the oats disappeared. Delish!

Very nice. A delicious flavorful bread with a crisp crust. I was very surprised to see reviews that stated the dough was sticky. I added the oats before the flour, and my dough was smooth and elastic. I thought the photos looked a little pale, so I baked mine on the medium setting. It rose higher than I expected. This is a very good recipe.

This makes a fantastic loaf of bread! I can't really taste the oats at all, but that's okay because it's perfect the way it is. It's so light and fluffy! It tastes great alone or toasted with some grape jelly. I'll be making this again soon.

Definitely a kid-pleaser (and everyone else too!) My loaf did not sink, in fact, don't make the mistake I did: since I have a 2-lb. machine, I converted the recipe to make a 2-lb. loaf, and the lid of my machine was practically popping off, it rose so high! Next time I will make the 1.5 lb. version - there definitely will be a next time.

I've been looking for a Scottish Oatmeal Bread that I used to make years ago. This recipe is the closest I've found. It makes a beautiful loaf, tastes great AND is a lot easier than the orginal I was looking for!
