Crispy outside, soft inside, spicy and wonderfully aromatic! I used a combo of butter and shortening to make up 3/4 cup. I did not need to grease my sheets. I also did not chill the dough, had no problems with the dough. Beautiful!

These were awesome! I did sub half whole wheat flour - otherwise I followed the recipe to a t! The end result was a crisp on the edge - chewy in the middle - cookie.

These are SO GOOD! They have a strong Molasses taste and are extremely soft
I loved them! they come out a perfect size too- don't press them down when you put them on the sheet and remember to roll in sugar! YUM! thanks!

Outstanding!! Let me tell you that these are some of the best cookies I have ever made and I was skeptical the whole way through and wondering how this recipe had 5 stars across the board out of 23 reviews. Don't let the simple ingredients fool you, because this cookie not only tastes wonderful but it truly has the perfect texture, soft, moist and chewy. I dipped half of them in melted white chocolate and then put them on parchment paper to set up. My co-workers really went nuts over them and these were the first to go out of the three types of cookies I made amongst a lot of chocolate lovers. I used freshly grated nutmeg and chilled the dough for about 5 hours, but followed the rest of the recipe to a "T". Just unbelievable cookies, I know I will make these often. Thanks!

These barely made it into the cookie tin - they just flew off the cooling racks! I toned down all the spices by 1/2 tsp., and used just 1 tsp. baking soda. And I didn't roll them in sugar. They are just right - soft, spicy, with crisp edges. And going, going, gone! Yum!

Baked these tonight after reading the reviews. Used 1 T. pumpkin pie spice instead of the individual measurements. YUMMY! These will definitely be repeats.

Yum!! These are fantastic...my 2.5yr old twins LOVED the dough! I have one rack of cookies left..still warm..& I'm sure they'll be gone before bedtime. I'm going to start another batch right away. I followed the recipe exactly..I love a spicy cookie & this as a to-die-for combo. I wouldn't call these super spicy--my girls don't like anything too spicy & they loved these. THANK YOU!!!

Very soft and chewy cookie. I made them like my Mom used to make...with a powdered sugar icing on top rather than rolling the dough balls in white sugar. Shirl...you are SO right...they are addictive!

When I made these, I only had about 1/4 cup of regular molasses and made up the other 1/4 cup with blackstrap molasses. Some of the family liked them. I thought they had to strong of molaases flavor and slightly bitter. I will make them again using a lighter molasses and give a star rating at that time.

Wow, my cookies looked like the pics! Very soft and after a while a bit crisp on the edges which was fine. I think an addition of cloves or cardamom would be really good too but they are great as is! I only chilled my dough about 40 minutes btw and it was fine.
