42 Reviews of Italian Dressing Seasoning Dry Mix

From: papergoddess

On Oct 27, 2003

This was just what I was looking for. I needed dry Italian dressing mix for an appetizer I was making. This combination was perfect. I put the oregano, basil, thyme and parsley in my electric coffee grinder to make it a powder. I also used celery seed. This is definitely a keeper, not to mention a money-saver!

This mix made the best Italian dressing! It was easy to put together. I didn't have celery leaves so I used celery seeds. Thanks so much!

Fantastic! NO MSG! Better flavor than the packaged mixes, plus less expensive and can be customized for someone on a reduced-sodium diet. I left out celery leaves, otherwise made as stated. So far I've used this in Creamy Italian Noodles #41169 and Keilbasa Pasta Sauce #38234, but it will be a pantry staple. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I love the flavor of this mix. I sprinkled it over our homemade pizza before baking and it was great. I also made some Italian breadsticks and sprinkled this on top. Can't wait to make it into a salad dressing. Updated: I mixed this into a dressing and it was delicious. I used olive oil. My husband prefers this over store bought.

I love the salad dressing packets but always forget to buy them. I love that now I can make my own and even vary them according to my mood and my pantry. Thanks for posting. I replace the salt and celery flakes with celery salt and I add a tablespoon of paprika for the colour.

This is good stuff. I used it to make Good Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing (Good Balsamic Vinagrette Dressing) and it turned out delicious. The only change I made was to add splenda instead of sugar. I'll definitely be using this from now on...no more store bought. Thanks BeachGirl

I keep saying, oops, next time I use this I need to remember to submit a review and today is the day, I guess. I make as directed except rather than use salt substitute I just omit the salt. The other ingredients seem to add enough flavor that it's not missed. In addition to the salad dressing shown in the recipe instructions, I've also used the same instructions substituting mayo for the oil for a creamier dressing. the herb mixture also works in spaghetti sauce, sprinkled over fish or chicken or to season a Mediterranean style stir-fry. Very versatile, very useful and delicious.

An excellent dry mix. The Italian dressing was exceptional. I used my "Good Seasons" cruet, adding oil, vinegar and water at the appropriate levels... Then added 2 tablespoons of this mix. It's a more interesting taste than the "Good Seasons" spice mix. Thanks for posting, BeachGirl!

This is an excellent mix - I was making Simple Caribbean Jerk Chicken, which calls for an envelope of dry Italian dressing mix. My grocer doesn't carry it, so I posted a question about it on the Cooking Q & A board, and this recipe was suggested. Not only did I use it on the chicken tonight, but I asked tried it as a dressing for the salad that I made to go with the meal - excellent mix. The only changes that I made were that I halved the salt and used celery seed as I couldn't find leaves or flakes at the grocery store.

I followed the ingredients exactly, but I thought it was way too salty. I will make again, using 1/2 the salt. Thanks so much for posting.
