32 Reviews of Mandarin Chicken

From: Mares C.

On May 13, 2005

OH MYGAWD!A Zillion Stars!!This is the very recipe I've been craving!!! Tastes just like the Panda Express gourmet Chinese food!I 've test driven this recipe 3 times...and "tinkered" a bit...much to the delight of DH,Picky Grandsons, and lucky neighbors. For us, all white meat wasa little too dry(really super quick though!)...I used drumsticks & plucked the meat off...but the very best yet was using a whole chicken simmered, skinned and de-boned, and doubling up on the sauce.Takes a little longer, but the results are Sooooo Good. Thank You, thank You!!

Tastes delicious, I cut back on the sugar to almost half and it was perfect. I also used boneless chicken thighs so the the chicken would be moist because chicken breasts tend to be a bit dry and less flavorful. Easy to make it really does taste like Panda's Mandarin Chicken.

Super easy, super fast to make. Great taste. I eliminated the vegetable oil to save calories. Needs to be served with stir fried veggies and rice on the side.

WONDERFUL!!! Really easy to make. Tasted just like Panda Express. The family loved it, and my hubby asked me to make some more for him to take to work for lunch the next day. Usually he buys fast food. Two thumbs up!

AWESOME!!! My son and I (single father) made this last night and it was GREAT!! I'm a novice cook (single father) so I follow the recipes word-for-word because I'm too afraid to experiment so far. We loved it and he even wanted to cook it the next night!! TY

We had this for dinner yesterday. It is wonderful. You don't have to deep fry the chicken so is lower in fat. It is very simple. I had cooked the chicken and started the sauce, my DH came home a little later than I had anticipate. It came together very quickly and I had it on the table in just a few minutes. You must try this one!

Awesome! As close to the Panda Express Mandarin chicken flavor as I can find.

This tasted wonderful! I do think the sauce needs some tinkering with! I had to add a bit more water since the sauce was a little too sticky for my taste & I think it needs some more spices added to it. I'm going to add 1/8 tsp pepper for a kick & maybe some Chinese 5 spice powder. But it was great; almost like the real deal without the million calories!

YUMMY!!! WOW what a great recipe. Will be making this over. Sauce is great. I made regular chicken for the family and used "chicken" strips for myself. I decreased the sugar as some others have suggested, I only used 1/3 cup. I doubled the recipe for the sauce. Thank you

The whole family loves this even the ones that aren't crazy about Chinese food! My mother insists on adding cashews and it really makes the dish! I double and quadruple the sauce, add a can of chicken near the end when we have surprise guests and it works out every time. I made it as written (with the ginger powder substitute) the first time and the second I used low sodium soy, there was no difference in taste but the sodium went way down! You can add in any veggie you want or a stir fry blend for added yummies.
