I am giving this five stars, because it is so different and really does work. had husband, 2 girlfriends and a 10 year old over this afternoon, and asked them to be testers. I sliced the chili very finely, and salted lightly, and it is incredible how the 3 flavors meld.
I live in a place where pineapple is a common fruit, and I have always found them a little too sweet, but this takes the edge off.
the chili I used was very hot, and we all took a mouthfull, chewed like crazy, and them had a drink
, but everyone agreed it was great, and we would do it again!!!!

Have just tried this as some people just dropped in. I used salt flakes and put more chile on somes pieces for the chile heads. The salt sweet hot goes well and it was served with a cold chablis.

Like Latchy said, the "salt sweet hot" is just fantastic! The first taste is sweet pineapple, then you notice a bit of salt, then the chili burn hits. Definitely add a little more chili pieces for the spice-lovers. I used a small red pepper from my garden, I believe it was a cayenne pepper. Will serve this with drinks often!

I made this last night for a small cocktail party. It was pretty on the plate and to my utter amazement, it was delicious! I backed of a little bit on the salt - I probably used 3/4tsp. instead. The red pepper I used was the size and shape of a jalapeno. My first taste after making it was pretty salty, but as they sat it all melded together and became a wonderful treat. Next time I'd use a little more of the chili pepper, or get a hotter one. Thanks for the fun, unique recipe! I'll make it again for sure.

I love anything spicy, sweet, tart and salty! I thought it's very refreshing. I've had pineapple with salt before, but not with the hot pepper. I used a red Thai pepper and it had a nice kick! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

I'm not a big pineapple fan but this is a very nice way of eating pineapple. My pineapple wasn't that sweet but it still worked out okay. Definitely worth a try!
