I made this for last minute teacher's gifts and they were a big hit. I used pretty jars with red decorative lids and bagged them up with homemade biscuit mix. The directions were very easy to follow and the jam is delicious!

A very similar recipe was inside my box of Certo pectin (Canada). The only differences were in the amount of crushed strawberries (4 1/2 cups instead of 5) and no butter. I used 5 cups according to your recipe but left out the butter. This recipe really makes an excellent jam. The taste is very fresh and clean, pure strawberry flavour. It did take a few days for the jam to jell completely but patience paid off. I'll be making this for years to come. Thank you Jellyqueen!

Thanks JellyQueen, My Grandmothers and all my Aunts Can foods and make an assortment of jellies , so this was my first attemp at Strawberry jam. I had about six different recipes but I stuck with yours because I Knew it had worked for you . I have just made the best Strawberry Jam in the world thanks to your recipe. It may be on the sure-jell box but your directions were much easier to follow. Thanks again, When Peaches are abundant I am going to try making Peach Preserves. This recipe is going in my permanent recipe box.

Fresh and surprisingly not too sweet (despite the amount of sugar). Even my mom liked it and she doesn't eat jam or jelly.

This was the first time that I have ever made jam, it was simple and everyone LOVED it. I will be sure to make this one again.

I was just checking the recipes before I added this recipe myself and then I found it. There is no better jam recipe than the one on the box. Follow it to the tee and you can't go wrong. I just made this last night. Here's an idea... after it's set, put some of it in the microwave and heat it up, pour over vanilla ice cream. It's soooo good!

I tried this recipe today w/ 10# fresh from the farm strawberries which I got yesterday afternoon. A local farmer took orders at the office and delivered them to us... can't beat that! My puter was acting up for some strange reason so I followed the instructions on the Sure-Jell box and, when I came here to rate it... I found there was a difference: the addition of 1/4 c lemon juice. Otherwise, the recipes are the same. Had no problems making the jam at all, everything went smoothly. I ended up making three batches with 12 pints, 3 half-pints, and three pyrex bowls with a couple of ladles-full that wouldn't fit in the jars. My entire kitchen smells like strawberry jam... and it's such a good feeling to have a shelf full of jam for the winter... .tho I'm sure I'll be into the jam long before winter rolls back around! I did try some the cooled jam in the pyrex dish with some Greek yogurt.... and boy, it is good!
