Before I tasted these, I was planning on rating them at four stars. Here's why: 1) The filling is "softer" than I like. I'll experiment with some flour added to the filling to firm it up so it will stay put when cut. 2) The crust is just BARELY light brown before adding filling...not what I was thinking of when I read "...until brown". 3) Step #10 is VERY misleading..."or until filling is firm around edges." Well, the filling is NEVER firm around the edges when baking (after cooling, it is though). This led me to overbake the edges. A more accurate description would be when the 25 mins are up and the top is well-browned and the edges are bubbling. Despite all of these aggravations, once we tasted the bars, we both knew they still HAD to get 5 stars!!! We both loved them (and I don't even care for pecan pie.) The crust just makes these bars DELICIOUS!!! Over the top. Thanks, JellyQueen! ~Jeff's Girl Way Out West

Very good! I needed a dessert to take to a potluck and was looking for something different than the standard cupcakes and brownies. These were perfect! I reduced the sugar to 1 cup (instead of 1.5 cups), and they were still plenty sweet. I also lined the pan with foil, extending the foil well over the sides of the pan, and sprayed well. It worked great — no sticking!

When I made these pecan bars my family just loved them. They told me to bake some to sell. I did and the customers just loved them. The pecan bars are a big hit.

The first time I made these, I took them to a Thanksgiving dinner where I would meet my boyfriend's family. They loved them! (And I'm sure it helped them to love me...they love good cooks!)

Very good!! I was looking for a pecan pie recipe but after trying to make a flaky crust with no luck.... i thought this recipe was the next best thing.. and too be honest i think i like bar cookies better then pie crust anyway... I like the way the crust is firm and crunchy!! Anyone who loves pecan pie... will adore this recipe... without all the extra work of a pie crust.... Cheers to you jellyqueen and thanks for making thanksgiving that much sweeter!!!

I also made this for the first time for a bake sale. The woman who bought it came back, said she tasted one and had to buy the rest. Very easy to make. It sure was a hit.

I chopped the pecans for easier cutting. Otherwise made it as written. Held together well, tasted great- many compliments received.

Yummy!
These were great. I just made them in a 9x9 and only made 1/3 of a batch. They were so simple!
I did make a 2 changes. I added 1/4 c. chocolate chips before I poured on the pecan mixture. And I added 50% more pecans, because I love pecans!
These were wonderful and so easy! I just made them an hour ago and already they are half gone. Maybe I should have made a whole batch!!
