72 Reviews of "I Hate Ricotta" Meat & 2 Cheese Stuffed Shells

From: * Pamela *

On Nov 7, 2005

I love Ricotta but DH does not and so I made these especially for him and he loved them. I made the recipe as directed and it was perfect. I cooked some extra shells and stuffed them with the meat mixture then I placed them on a cookie and sheet to freeze. When they were frozen solid, I put them in a ziploc bag. Now when I am need of an easy supper I can pull them out, top them with sauce and bake in a covered dish until they are heated through. Thnaks for this great addition to my OAMC collection!

I had to jump on this one because "I hate ricotta" for sure. These were perfect and I'm so glad you posted this recipe. Easy to make because you could just do one thing at a time and let them cool. My DD stopped by this morning and ate one cold. She almost fainted with pleasure and then took the leftovers home. Jeeze. lol. Your DH might like my Another Baked Ziti Another Baked Ziti. without ricotta. Thanks again TaraK73 for this great recipe.

I loved these!! They turned out so good...not at all as hard to make as I thought they would be. The only change I made was to sprinkle additional mozarella over the top, as well as the parmesan. My DH even ate 2 servings! Even my picky 3 year old ate hers up! thanks for a great recipe!

These were delicious. I didn't have the wine so i used a little chicken broth and they still came out fantastic...definitely a keeper.

With my husband being a card carrying member of the "I Hate Ricotta" camp, these shells were a huge hit on the dinner table. My "jumbo shells" must not have been as large as others', though, because I had 24 shells in the pan stuffed near the point of explosion and still had meat mixture left - no more shells or room left in the pan, though. I must find true jumbo shells next time! Fabulous recipe.

We absolutely loved these. They were very easy to prepare and tasted SO good. I left out the wine and parsley only because I didn't have either on hand. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly. These were gobbled up and well become a staple in my house. Thanks for the great recipe.

This is a very good recipe that does not really require alot of time or work, but tastes delicious! I did use 1/2 sausage and 1/2 ground beef, but stayed true to the recipe other than that. I will make these again. Very nice job, and congrats on the win last week.

I absolutely loved this recipie! I wouldn't change a thing but next time my husband wants me to leave the wine out since he's not a fan of wine. We also had garlic bread and a salad and we were stuffed!

These were very good. I used red wine I had on hand (not sure if it was dry, but it worked out), omitted the parsley (didn't have any) and followed as directed. The only thing I may change is the italian bread crumbs. Maybe it was just the brand I had, but it was a strong flavor I didn't care for. Will make again trying some different bread crumbs. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, Yum City! These are incredibly good and finally, a stuffed shell recipe without ricotta! Admittedly, I did find one that's not "icky" (that's a scientific word) and is, instead hard and grate-able, but I didn't need to head to Whole Foods for a hunk in order to make this recipe. The first time I made this, I stuffed the shells too loosely, but packed them pretty well this time and we liked that much better.... to say nothing of the fact that they didn't fall apart this time blush We LOVED the sauce in this... I think the vino makes it. Oh, I also fried up some salt/pepper/garlic powder-seasoned mushrooms to garnish and we loved them! Thanks for a mighty fine keeper!
