I too have been making and eating this wonderful cake since i was a youngster... I have added my own touch to it as well. I use a simple icing of powdered sugar and water and pour it over the cake as soon as you take it out of the oven... the icing dissapears into the cake... yummy!!

Very good cake! I decided to try it despite my skepticism over the lack of dairy - it turned out wonderful. Moist, not too chocolately (but still satisfied my dark chocolate sweet tooth) and very easy to make. Definitely recommended!

My family has been eating this cake for years. Don't let the ingredients fool you - this is an extremely flavorful moist cake and not overly sweet. It is also ideal for those who are lactose intolerent or vegetarians. We have alway's called this the 3-Hold cake. We mixed it directly in the pan we baked in (no extra bowls to clean). Mix all the dry ingredients in the pan, make 3 holes and pour the liquids into each whole (water over the entire thing), mix, bake and enjoy. Its so good it doesn't even need icing!!!

this is as everyone said a GREAT recipe. Mine is slightly different, I use 2 T of vanilla instead of 1 T and sometimes (just to get CRAZY) use 1 c. coffee and 1 c. of water for the 2 c. of liquid - delicious!

My exact recipe .... so yummy!!! Quick and easy and the kids love to help! I use Kittencal's Creamy White Buttercream Frosting/Icing for the icing.

Easy & delicious cake. Substituted 1 tbsp. lemon juice for the 2 tbsp. vinegar - turned out fine. A fun indoor activity do with my toddler on this icy day in TX.

My mom used to make this cake when we were growing up. I haven't made it in years. Boy, it sure brought back wonderful taste bud memories. I am in charge of birthday cake day each month at work and took this today with the Hershey's chocolate frosting recipe. To say it was a hit would be an understatement. I am truly a pie lover but occasionally will have cake, I took one bite of my sister's (we work together) and it was fabulous. Thanks for the memories. So good I'm going to make again for our annual Rod Run trip in a couple of weeks.

I made this for my husband's birthday this year and he loved it. It took longer a full hour to bake in our oven, though. Very yummy and fast to put together.
