105 Reviews of "This must be one of the best cookies I have ever eaten!' AKA Snickerdoodles

From: 6 pack mama

As writen these produced an awesome texture cookie but I have to agree with another reviewer, they are a bit bland for a snickerdoodle. That isn't a bad thing if you are looking for a cookie to go with coffee or for kids. Add 1tsp of vanilla and 1tsp of cinnamon and get much better flavor though. With these changes definitely a 5 star recipe. Tip, keep cookie sheets in freezer and dough refridgerated between batches and the cookies will puff up instead of spread flat.

I made these December 23rd. It made large cookies and everyone who tried them loved them. They kept asking for more and they were gone in no time. I will definately make again and this time I will double or triple the batch.

Wonderful cookies! They had a great flavor and we loved the soft, slightly chewy texture. The family gobbled them up. After the first bite, DH proclaimed "This is one darn good cookie!" Thanks for posting. I will definitely make these again.

I used to love Snickerdoodles when I was little but over the years most recipes were too bland. I was thrilled to come across GloriaAnn's wonderful recipe. Love the addition or brown sugar and the use of butter vs shortening. Be careful with the baking time, The cookies could overbake quickly and dry out. My oven must run a little hot, I did my second batch at 9 minutes and they were great. Only mistake I made was not to double the batch. Thank you GloriaAnn, this is another keeper!

These were great. I was bored yesterday and made these, good thing to b/c my hubby invited company for dinner last night. I got the 16 cookies out of the recipe and half were gone before dinner. Mine did not flatten like the one's in the picture but I did not really press them. They were so good though. I am about to go make another batch right now. Thanks!! Update: Our family was invited to a barbque and I offered to take a side dish and some cookies, of course these popped into my mind. Since there were 8 adults and 8 kids I decided to triple the recipe. I made them slightly smaller so I could get more cookies. I ended up with 58 cookies. I figured that should last us a while but I was so wrong. I got one cookie. I was to slow! Everyone loved them. We have since had anothor barbque and I thought I would try another cookie recipe and everyone told me they like the new ones but from now on I HAD to bring the snickerdoodles. Thanks so much for a winning recipe.

I was searching for a recipe that used all butter and no shortening (shortening kinda grosses me out, it's so unnatural), and this is the best one I have ever found, with one or two minor tweaks: first, I double the recipe to make about 35 cookies; and second, I bake them at 350, as I've found this helps them to rise higher and not be quite so flat. Also, I like to add cinnamon chips sometimes--that really makes them over the top.

This is a great cookie recipe! My kids were gobbling them up as soon as they were cool enough to eat. I tripled the recipe and got 50 cookies. I used a small scoop and then rolled them in my hands before putting them in the cinnamon sugar. I baked them on parchment paper which worked great. I just put the rolled balls on the cookie sheet without pressing them flat. In the last few minutes of cooking they flatten out and may have a slight dome sometimes. Eleven minutes of baking was perfect.

Very yummy! We made these quite a bit smaller than 2 and 1/2 T. We used half a tablespoon of dough per cookie, and just flattened slightly with the palm of our hand. Also it went quickly to form the cookie balls, drop several at a time into a shallow bowl with the cinnamon/sugar, and gently shake the bowl until all the cookies were coated. It was easy to do 6 at a time. We liked the smaller size cookie, since these are rich and buttery. (We made a couple big — but agreed they were much too dense and heavy.)

Good cookies! I liked that they stayed soft. I doubled the recipe and made them smaller so I got more. I took them to a party and they were one of the two kinds of cookies that were all gone! Very easy to make.

These are GREAT cookies! They are deliciously soft and chewy. I made them for a friend's birthday party and they were a BIG hit! I omitted the cinnamon, making them into sugar cookies. They were really buttery and sweet...did I mention soft and chewy?
