39 Reviews of Bacon Wrapped Scallops

From: h_metts

On Sep 10, 2006

I took this recipe as a starting point, I was really looking for a scallop recipe that used bacon and BBQ sauce and this one looked like a good place to start. I purchased 2 lbs of scallops and bought 2 lbs. of maple hickory bacon. I ended up using only one of the packs of bacon because I found that half a slice was enough for each scallop. It turns out that about 34 scallops wrapped in bacon fit on one broiler pan. I cooked the scallops as directed in the recipe but I modified the sauce. Modified the sauce by decreasing the garlic to two cloves instead of a full Tbsp. and then added 2/3 of a cup of Kraft honey BBQ sauce. This was a big hit with the "seafood feast" I made for my friend and her family. Her 5 year old loved them (was probably the bacon and BBQ sauce :D) So if anyone is looking for a variation on this recipe give the BBQ sauce a try!

MissNezz these are wonderful! I did things backwards by mistake- poured the sauce over the scallops & then wrapped in bacon, and they were still yummy. What a treat these are, soft, lightly salty and a little garlicky. I'll surely be making these again. And glad you like the pic.

These have been a New Years tradition in our family for atleast the last ten years, and there never seems to be enough made! Except we fry the bacon a little bit, then put in a pan in the over for a few minutes. Fantastic recipe, you can't go wrong with this.

These were fabulous! Me and my husdand tryed them and we aren't big seafood lovers so we were a little leary and only made a few with our meal. I know wish I would have boughten more scallops. Thanks so much!

I made this as a New Year's Eve treat and what a hit! I broiled the scallops and bacon as directed and then tossed them with some sauted garlic and bbq sauce that I heated up. Wow!

Great recipe! The thing I did differant was I deep fried them in a fry daddy, I used large ones that I cut in half and I put a half peace of garlic on top of scallop wrap with a half peice of baccon and made sure the tooth pick was through the garlic. This is a great way to make chichen livers also. thanks for sharing, we loved them!

Outstanding! I've been looking for a way to get my family to eat scallops, because I love them. I took another reviewer's tip and added 3/4 cup barbecue sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's) and halved the garlic, and I also halved the butter. I bought center cut bacon (lower in fat), and cut the pieces in half. I had to broil them a little longer than 3 minutes per side, but I had the broiler temp low at first for fear of burning the bacon. My DH and BOTH my boys (which is a miracle) demolished these! I will definitely be adding this recipe to the rotation! Thanks!

This dish is simple and has wonderful flavor (the sauce is tasty too!). We used bay scallops and found that half a slice of bacon was enough. This is an elegant dish great for entertaining. We will make this again.
