I made this last night for dinner. This was the first time that I've ever made "homemade" macaroni and cheese. I used shell pasta instead of macaroni (using the same amount of uncooked pasta). I almost cooked additional pasta before I baked it because when I mixed the pasta with the cheese mixture it looked very soupy. It's a good thing that I didn't!! During the baking process, the liquid "evaporated". This is a recipe that will definitely be used again! Thanks for sharing!

This was a quick & easy recipe to make for a family gathering. I doubled the recipe exactly & added a bit more flour. Instead of the cheddar, I used velveeta cheese. Perfect. (Just ask my 3 boys)

This is by far the best macaroni and cheese I've ever made. I have been looking for an EASY homemade mac and cheese (I am not a fan of the "box" kind), and I am happy to say this is it!!!! Reminds of the kind my great-grandma used to make. This is comfort food at its finest. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

My family really enjoyed this dish. I had some trouble getting the liquids to thicken, so I added a tad bit more flour; about a teaspoon I think. After reading reviews, I decided to add some extra spices for flavor. So, I mixed in a teaspoon of paprika, half a teaspoon of onion powder and just a pinch of garlic powder. It came out great! This will be a staple at our house!

True comfort food. I make this using grated American cheese, about 1 teaspoon more flour, and 1/4 teaspoon white pepper. It was ready in time stated. The serving size is perfect. I am sure to save this recipe to make again

I love this recipe. It is so easy to make. I have halved this recipe and it is great for 2 people.

Made this exactly as written. Excellent. My personal choice for next time would be to saute minced onion along with the butter only because that's what we are used to. Tomorrow, I will add some diced ham to the leftovers and pack it in a thermos for my DH's lunch. Thank You Marian Allen!

An easy to follow recipe for comfort food. I followed the recipe exactly except when I got out my shredded cheddar it was a cheddar jack blend. It still turned out great. Thanks for posting this recipe, Marian.

Great basic mac&cheese recipie. DH wanted mac&cheese and knockwurst tonight. This was just the ticket. I put a tsp or so of brown mustard to give it a bit of zip, but that's purely personal.

This was easy to do and everyone agreed it was good. (I thought it would be too plain.) I thought the amount was about perfect for a side dish for 4-6. I would probably not serve as a main (with 3 servings) because, although good, it is not quite a superstar. I served it with Baked Pork Chops and Simply Spiced String/ Green Beans.
