26 Reviews of Cornbread, Sausage, Apple, & Pecan Stuffing

A wonderful dressing. Moist, flavorful; I served it as a side dish with turkey breast and raspberry sauce. I halved the recipe and still had an 8X8 baking dish full of dressing. I didn't have any broth or drippings, so I dotted the top of the dressing with a tablespoon of butter before covering, and it came out very moist, but not greasy.

I made this in the crockpot to save oven space, the day before Thanksgiving and reheated it in the micro. I left out the nuts, (personal preference) and added 2 cans of chicken stock to moisten it, near the end of cooking. Everyone loved this dressing! This is our new favorite dressing for holidays.

This was the very first dressing I ever made and it was sooo good! After mixing it up , it seemed a little dryer then I was used to so I added some chicken broth to it. About half way through I added a little more. Perfect! My family raved, even my husband and brother, both of which are not too keen on stuffing. This will definitly be on the table for the holidays.

I've never had sausage, fruit OR nuts in dressing before so I was very intrigued by this recipe. I used about 1 1/2 of those 15oz cans of fat free chicken broth in the dressing before I put it in the oven. Then after each 15 - 20 minutes I basted it with the juices from the turkey - about another 3-4 cups....the dressing was exactly as moist as I like it and the taste (we had some fresh homemade sausage) was out of this world - everyone who ate it raved...looks like I have a new dressing recipe from now on.

The flavor was really good and the directions were easy to follow. I didn't have any drippings left after making my sausage (how wierd?!?) so I had to baste it with chicken broth. (I made it before the turkey so I couldn't use the turkey drippings either.) Just a suggestion, it would be very helpful to have an idea how much liquid to baste it with. I used 15 oz of chicken broth and it was still a little on the dry side for our tastes. Now that I know, I'll definately use more, but I wish I would have had an idea before I made it. All in all, it was a good recipe and with a few tweeks, it will become my traditional holiday dressing!

LOVED THIS. Everyone did. I like the mix of cornbread and white bread. I used a stale ciabatta torn, and I think next time I will use a more standard sandwich bread so that the stuffing will be a bit more mushy. I did make my cornbread from a coarse grain corn meal which I liked a lot. I liked the pecans and apples in this a lot. I used the butcher ground pork with seasonings and augmented with fresh sage from my garden. I have a feeling Jimmy Dean sausage would be great too — though I haven't ever cooked with it myself, I have fond memories of my aunt serving it for breakfast when I was a kid.

Yum Yum Yummy! I've made stuffing recipe a few times now and I get rave reviews everytime. The only thing that I do differently is I use 3 kinds of stove top stuffing mixes (chicken, turkey & cornbread). I omit the seasonings because there is enough seasoning in the stove top stuffing mixes. Everything else is followed as called for. Thank you for a great recipe!

I substituted cashews for the pecans, since I was already using pecans in another dish. It was great, and got many compliments at Thanksgiving dinner!

This was a hit of our Thanksgiving meal. Everyone loved it. I did not eat as much as I am not a big fan of nuts in my stuffing, but that is a personal preference. We did use walnuts in place of pecans, since we had walnuts in another recipe and it was still very good. We used chicken broth instead of sausage drippings, just to cut abit of fat, but still worked out well. thanks so much!
