This ice cream is DELICIOUS and so VERY EASY. With an elec ice cream maker, it can be made on the spur of the moment! (Maybe this is not a good thing!) I have made it twice, once following the recipe exactly, and that was just wonderful. The second time I used 1 C light cream and 1 C heavy cream instead of the 2 C whipping cream, and increased the vanilla to a tablespoon. The result was also wonderful, and I liked the slightly stronger vanilla. I will probably keep modifying it, to try and reduce the fat a little and see how low I can go and still have it remain creamy after being stored in the freezer.

I just made this treat to celebrate the 4th and it was wonderful! I was scared to eat raw egg, so once I had constructed the mixture, which was very easy, I brought it to simmering point. Then I put the mixture in the fridge for about an hour to cool. Then I used my kitchen aid mixer ice cream attachment and it took about 1/2 an hour to become the perfect soft consistancy that I love from homemade ice cream. The flavor was perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about it. Thank you for this recipe!

Ohhhh my, this is WONDERFUL! This is the perfect ice cream! Its wonderful! I cannot say it enough. I made it for my sons 1st bday. I made this vanilla and also chocolate by adding plain unsweetened cocoa (about 1/4 cup) to the milk in a sauspan and heated just barely until more disolved. It was TO DIE FOR! I used all organic ingredients. YUM!

Wow- this ice cream is incredible! I made one batch as directed (for the 1 c. milk, I used whole milk) and I made one batch where I cooked the egg/cream mixture. We definitely preferred the original recipe- don't alter anything! It's excellent as is! I did add extra vanilla but only because we love that extra kick. My husband and I agree that it is creamier and more like store-bought than the homemade we grew up eating... it's even really creamy the next day. ** A few helpful tips are to store it in a long, flat container for even consistency, and stick plastic wrap on top of the ice cream before putting the the lid on your tupperware. Thanks for sharing!

This is an excellent recipe! The only modification I made was to "cook" the eggs because I am taking it to a party where there are pregnant women. I whisked (actually used the mixer to beat) the eggs until frothy, added sugar and the milk and 1/2 of the cream. Then I transferred all to a sauce pan and heated on med-low heat until it reached about 180F on my candy thermometer. I stirred frequently during this time. Then I passed hot mixture through a strainer and added the last 1/2 of the cream and the vanilla and mixed well. Of course, I had to chill it for a quite a while until cold before adding into my ice cream maker. So basically the ingredients are exactly the same, just a slight difference in preparation. It's WONDERFUL! So rich and creamy and I'm looking forward to having some and I have no doubt it will receive RAVE REVIEWS! Thanks for a simple and wonderful recipe!

This is GREAT! We doubled it to make 2 quarts. Very pleased with the flavor and texture. Added chopped Oreos and added just before it was finished. It tasted just like Edy's Cookies and Cream!! So excited!!! Tonight I am going to make it and swirl blueberry pie filling that I made and graham cracker pieces. Hopefully will be something like Blueberry Pie Ala Mode Ice Cream! Thanks for the great recipe!
