This was absolutely fabulous! It's the first bread I've made from scratch in my breadmaker...I've been using ready made mixes up to now. I added an extra teaspoon of cinnamon to make sure it had a strong flavour (which I like). I also put the raisins in right from the beginning as I was setting it on the timer and it was perfect! Thanks

Oh my gosh, what can I say about this wonderful bread! I am new to bread machine and wanted a fragrant, hearty tasting versus sweet tasting bread. My 3 sons who don't like raisins and my picky bread eater husband who does like raisins, sort of put me in a pickle about what to do. I decided to put the raisins in but I soaked them in hot water for 5 minutes or so, as recommended by one of the recipe raters here. It was a great suggestion! The raisins were so soft and barely noticed. I will use that softening idea on other recipes too! Now, I did use half wheat flour and also I used brown sugar and white sugar mixed plus added another tablespoon. I used the overnight setting and WOW! did the house smell divine the next morning with fresh cinnamon wafting through the house, mmmmm. Also, I added another tsp of cinnamon as my husband loves cinnamon. Now, I slathered the thick slices with fresh butter, then I sprinkled my brown sugar/white sugar/cinammon mix over the top, and my family devoured the entire loaf in about 10 minutes with some tall glasses of cold milk. Great recipe, great bread! Next time, if I have company, I'm going to make my cinammon roll icing and drizzle it over the slices and lay them out in a tray. Butter/cream cheese/pwdr sugar/vanilla whip together with a touch of salt, I think you all know that one pretty much. Suzan Doer

Wow! This went over very well with my family - we thought it was just the right amount of cinnamon & raisins (this is chock full of raisins). And I am pleased to say that this reicpe was highly accurate, especially for a bread machine recipe. I didn't need to make any adjustments.

This is a really great recipe! Super simple to make. The recipe calls for 'flour' I used bread flour. I also used 3/4 cups regular raisins and 1/4 cups of golden raisins. I've never put two differnet kinds of raisins in my bread (don't know what possessed me today) but I really liked it. I plumped my raisins in a little hot water for a couple minutes and then drained them until ready to put into the dough. Also, I have a Breadman TR44 (120v 600 watts) and on the Fruit and Nut setting for 1 1/2 pounds my machine took 3 1/2 hours instead of the three hours listed above. The bread was really good though. Soft and light in texture! I think next time I will add a few more raisins, but that's just my personal taste, I like a lot of raisins in my bread! Give this one a try, you won't be dissapointed!

I'm not a fan of raisin bread so I didn't eat any. I asked the DH how many stars to give it and he said six. Then he thanked me for buying the bread machine that just yesterday he said we didn't need. I guess that means it's good! Thanks southern chef!

Great recipe. I will be making this one again. I usually just make the dough in the maker and then bake in the regular oven, but this one turned out great in the breadmaker. It was nice and soft. I did add 1 more teaspoon of Cinnamon, 1 extra Tablespoon of sugar and about 1 1/2 cups of raisin instead of 3/4 cup. I like a lot of rasins. My breakmaker does say not to add more Cinnamon than what a recipe calls for because yeast doesn't like cinnamon, meaning it can cause it not to rise.I just make sure the cinnamon is not near the yeast.

I used 2 c all-purpose and 1 c whole wheat flour, and I also reduced the butter to about 1 1/2 TB, and it still turned out perfect. The aroma in the house this morning was amazing!

Although I gave this five stars, I have nothing to compare this to, as I have never made Raisin Bread in the machine before. However, I may never need to try another recipe since this was devoured immediately. I used canola oil instead of butter or margarine to make it a dairy free recipe. Smooth, flavorful, and gone in 10 seconds!
