11 Reviews of Cranberry-Orange Relish

From: Meredith K.

On Nov 24, 2004

I've been making this for years, and I love it. One thing the recipe doesn't mention is to INCLUDE the orange peel when you grind it all up! It really adds great texture. I always cut the sugar down quite a bit, to about 3/4 cup for a bag of fresh cranberries. Try the leftover relish mixed with cottage cheese for a great low-cal breakfast!

This was delicious and incredibly easy. I picked out the seeds and trimmed some of the orange membrane. I'm not sure I'd make it days in advance — the white part of the orange might turn bitter. But gosh, this was great in a pinch, and I can only imagine how good it would be with a splash of amaretto.

Thanks for posting this. I never wrote it down because for years it was on the bag of cranberries.. not this year lol! I sometimes add some finely chopped walnuts or add some finely chopped celery the day after Thanksgiving because this is really good on leftover turkey sandwiches.

This is the relish I grew up on — it wouldn't be a holiday meal without my Dad getting out the hand crank grinder. I tried to make this once with a food processor and was disappointed. I do add a small handful of chopped pecans before refrigerating.

I forgot to review this after the Holidays. I made this for Christmas 2007, it is really good. I had some left over and used it today in making Cold Curried Chicken Salad With Cranberries. I think I have enough left to make a half recipe of Merry Cranberry Bread. Ed, thank you for posting your 3 relish recipes. I've made two of them now and will make the 3rd this coming Thanksgiving. Great recipes!

Mmm. I look forward to this every year but I buy organic cranberries now so I didn't have the recipe on the back of the bag. This year I added an apple and only 2/3 cup sugar and it is still yummy.
