I was caught making the classic green bean casserole for the holidays and didn't have the Durkees French Fried onions. I had no desire to run to the store so I tried these. They are much easier than I imagined. Cooked up a batch in just a few minutes. (and had to chase the kids out of the kitchen so I had some to cook with!) I salt and peppered the flour before cooking the onions. I will never buy them again! (just have to remember to double the batch...they are so addictive!)

I am currently living in Japan. There are no French Fried Onions at the market, so I thought I would give this a try. Thanks so much for saving my holidays, they wouldn't be the same without the green bean casserole! Would suggest cooking to the point of almost burning, otherwise they can become a little soggy.

These were DELICIOUS!!! After I devoured the first batch, I had to make another. This time I tried a trick my friend had suggested which was to add an egg and just a little milk and dip instead of soak - those were even better! Yum! Thank you thank you thank you!

Zaar chefs to the rescue again! I was making our holiday green bean casserole when I realized I hadn't bought the can of fried onions. I did a quick search and found this recipe. The result was an exact taste match in the casserole. Thank you for posting this recipe! I will use this one again.

Oh, the power of Zarr! These are sooo much better than store bought, not only fresher, but no added chemicals/preservatives. I put them in the deep fryer at 375 degrees for about 5 minutes, flipping them often with long handled tongs. One large onion made plenty for a green bean casserole at Thanksgiving. Thanks for another Zarr recipe that saves me money!

Thank you so much for this recipe. I haven't been able to find FF Onions and I always ask people coming from the States to bring me some. My sweet hubby had never had the green bean casserole and really likes it but I ran out of my FF Onion stash. Now I can make it more often. Thanks!
