This is an excellent recipe! I recently discovered an EASY and FAST way to clean the pumpkin seeds (which is the worst part of making pumpkin seeds). Place the seeds in water and stir with your hands to clean them; all of the clean seeds will float to the top while the pumpkin strings and flesh sink to the bottom. Use a slotted spoon to remove the seeds from the water!

I have tried baking pumpkin seeds several different ways but had never boiled them first — it makes a big difference that my whole family liked. Thanks!

Thanks for the wonderful recipe. My grandaughter always requests toasted pumpkin seeds every halloween. Based on here-say, I increased the salt to 1/4 cup and added 1/8 cup garlic salt as well as baking time to 45 minutes. The children in her class loved them. It was a nice halloween treat!!! We'll definately do this one every year.

Today my daughter's kindergarten class carved pumpkins and I took the seeds home to roast. I followed this recipe exactly with great results. I liked the way that boiling them really plumps them up. I packed these in individual bags, one for each of the kids in the class. I will be making this recipe again the next time we carve a pumpkin. Thanks for posting this recipe!

Excellent recipe! I had always wondered what I was doing wrong with pumpkin seeds--the boiling makes all the difference!!! When I stirred mine into the butter I also added Tony Cachere's Cajun Seasoning. It gives the seeds a little kick, if you like that sort of thing! Thanks for the great recipe!

This is a great recipe - I guess I forgot to review it after last Halloween. Boiling it makes all the difference and the taste is wonderful! Even better luck with this recipe - it works with Butternut Squash seeds too! I cooked them for about 13 - 15 minutes (they were smaller, I had less of them than what a pumpkin would produce) and I only added 1 tbsp of butter for the same reason. Great! And - we eat squash all year round and don't have to wait for the once a year treat!

I love pumpkin seeds but had never tried boiling them. It really improved the texture and plumped them up. My toddler could even eat them. I did add some garlic salt. Very tasty! Thanks!

I think these were very good, although everyone who has eaten them so far has told me they wish they were cooked longer, so I guess it is ones personal preference as to how toasted they like them...for us, 30 mins isn't enough. Next Halloween I will go for 40 mins I think.
Thanks for the recipe!

I made this recipe with a group of folks whom have psychiatric disabilities, and we had A BALL!! Unfortunately, our (really BIG) pumpkin didn't have all that many seeds, but we had so much fun with this recipe! Followed all directions, and added some seasoned salt before baking. Everyone loved these seeds, and now they are begging me to buy another pumpkin! I think boiling the seeds really made them plump up, and although I am not a fan of pumpkin seeds, I couldn't help myself!! Thanks for a great recipe (and thanks from my folks...I asked them for their ratings, and they all told me to give this one 5 plus stars!) ~Manda
