This is green bean heaven! We love the combination of ham and green beans. Adding onions and garlic and cooking them in a small amount of liquid and butter is sensational. The only thing I would do different, is to serve this as a main course and the only course !!! Thanks, Inez.

So good, MizzNezz...Absolutely the best flavor I've found yet in green beans...Thank you so much for posting! The ham made it so savory-tasting! Wouldn't change a thing!

This was so easy to make, yet very elagant to serve at a formal dinner. The only change, I used frozen green beans. I will be making this alot.

This was a very good green bean recipe. I used canned green beans and garlic powder because that was all I had on hand. I also cut the butter down to 2 tablespoons and didn't miss the rest. It was very good. Thank you for posting it.

MMMMM! This is almost the same as my usual green bean recipe but makes for a nice change, especially when you have some leftover ham. I usually use bacon because it's easier since we always seem to have some on hand. Thanks!

Quite yummy and super fast!!! I used frozen french style green beans and leftover country ham (omitted the salt since the country ham is salty). Excellent. They were actually better the second day, so you might want to make them and put them in the fridge for serving the following day! Side note. . .I just made it again and used whole green beans; it is WAY better with frozen french cut green beans!

I wanted to cry after trying these green beans, because this was the exact way my Dad made them when I was a kid. His recipe died with him, and I have never found just the right one. I am a Texas girl and these beans are about as southern as you can get! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

My family rates this six thumbs up! I used bacon instead of ham and added some extra black pepper before serving. Delicious. I kept it simmering for an extra hour by adding more water when it needed it. Thanks for posting this keeper.

Great and fast! That's all I need. Made this for my green bean lover 13 month old girl. I used turkey breast instead of ham as I don't typically have cooked ham around. We loved it!

Oh so good! Used frozen whole green beans which worked well. I always have ham in the freezer, but rarely bacon, so this recipe was a great find. Great flavor of Southern green beans, with no need to simmer all day. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
