Instead of bacon I experimented by adding 1/8 tsp of liquid smoke for flavor. They turned out very good. Thanks for the recipe!

This was really good! I didn't have any bacon on hand but will use it next time. I did cut the recipe in half. Instead of the water I used the juice from a jar of pickled jalapeno's. I threw some jalapeno's in also. I like things hot and spicy. Served it along side of "Margarita Fajita Chicken" Margarita Fajitas Chicken. To finish off this excellent meal I prepared once again "Freezer Margarita" Freezer Margarita Thanks, for posting PanNan. Update: 2/4/07 Made these again but with the bacon. I personally feel that the bacon really doesn't add any additional flavor to the beans. More fat! but not more flavor. This time I served them with Yummy Pork Fajitas they came out excellent as always. I also throw the beans in the mircowave for a few seconds. Thanks, again PanNan for posting.

was a bit leary of the bacon and onions in the beans, but these beans turned out awesome. the onions disappeared, nobody even knew they were in there. served them at a party and everyone loved them. the only thing i added was a bit of cumin and coriander, which i always add to beans because i love the flavor. thanks for sharing the recipe!

This recipe really dressed up the plain old can of refried beans! I cut the recipe in half and used a can of jalapeno flavored refried beans. I didn't add any water, because I felt it didn't really need it. These beans had a wonderful flavor! I will definitely be making these again!

These are absolutely the best, this was so quick and easy. I also added cumin to these, and cheddar for the cheese. Outstanding! I did use bacon, which made this even more divine! Served as a side to Enchiladas. Thanks so much, PanNan!

Oh my goodness these are awesome! I made exactly as written and I now have the only recipe I will ever use again for Refried Beans. The beans were so creamy and full of flavor we ended up eating more beans than the rest of the meal. Next time I will add a can of chopped diced green chilies (we just like them in our beans). AWESOME RECIPE!! Thanks PanNan!!

This is great, I also added 1 large clove of garlic but had no bacon so I just sauteed the onion and garlic in a little olive oil. I also added a dash of cumin and chili powder and put it in an oven proof dish sprinkled the cheese on and put it in to the oven for a few minutes until everything was bubbley. Thanks for the great recipe.

This is an awesome recipe. I made these for my sons graduation party so made the recipe X 10 and it turned out perfect. I had so many compliments on the beans that I was almost embarrassed that they were so simple. These were a great addition to our "taco bar". Thank you for our refried bean recipe from now on.....Stephanie

This is the best refried bean recipe I've had. I served it with Quick Spanish Rice (Quick Spanish Rice) and my green chicken enchilada recipe. It was awesome.

WOW! What a lovely surprise this was for us! I've never made/ate refried beans anywhere outside of a restaurant and it seems like they just do the minimum to get by. I'm not sure I could ever eat others' again after this delicious and insanely simple recipe. I made them exactly as posted, but added a little shredded colby to the jack. Seriously delicious, we both loved them, thank you, PanNan!
