Oh my Richard, but your Aunt is a wonderful cook! After spending years of playing around trying to get the flavor I was looking for, I finally found it in this recipe. I served these last night with some crockpot ribs and the combination was excellent together. I had made these the night before and just popped them in the oven to warm (about) 25 minutes. They were super! Thanks Richard, my search is finally over!

These are now a requested staple at all bbqs! Here are some changes I've made that make this even better: 1 C (or more) onion, about a 1/4 C of mustard, a lb of bacon and some liquid smoke or smoky BBQ sauce. I bake it at 250 for a looooong time.

What a great tasting baked bean recipe. I made them Friday night and then put them in the crockpot on the table for my party on Saturday on low. By then end of the party there was one spoonful left and I doubled the recipe!!!! Thanks Richard.

These were really, really good! I added too much ketchup, but they still turned out. The kitchen smelled wonderful while they were cooking in the oven. I will definately make these again--Thanks for posting!

Fantastic recipe Richard! This is the highest rated recipe for Baked Beans on 'Zaar, and after making these for a cookout I went too, I can see why! I chose regular Van de Kamp beans because they seemed like a good choice, kind of bland without much seasoning. I threw everything in my crockpot and cooked on low for 4 hours and then just turned it on to warm. Everyone raved, and I gave out several copies of the recipe. Thanks again buddy for posting this winner!

Made this for a potluck and none was left over. The sweetness of the brown sugar made the beans and bacon extra flavorful. Great picnic dish!

Thank your Aunt for this recipe. I have made it multiple times and always is a hit. Sorry for not posting this review, but I was always too busy eating the baked beans. Good in the oven but easier in a crock pot.

These are good, though I altered them by increasing the onion to a half-cup and decreasing the brown sugar. I know that 1 cup would make the beans too sweet for my taste. I also added salt & pepper. I loved the kick of the mustard and the bits of bacon. These were a nice side to Cheddar Barbecued Burgers & Grilled Corn With Seasoned Butter (4 Different Kinds of Butter).

I cooked these to have with our Easter dinner and they were a hit. Usually I just throw things in and hope for the best. It was nice to have an actual recipe for beans. I will definitely use this one from now on. The only thing different that I did was lay the uncooked sliced bacon on top of the beans before cooking, instead of cooking the bacon first. Thanks!

Almost like my Mom used to make. I doubled the bacon, chopped it up and fried it in a large sauce pan until crispy, then added the rest of the ingredients except the onion and simmered stove-top as I didn't want to heat up my kitchen with the oven. These beans are really good except I do think 1 cup of brown sugar made them too sweet. My 9 month old twin granddaughters didn't think they were too sweet as they loved them, but most of the rest us agreed that cutting the brown sugar in half would make these 5-Star beans!
