My fiancee who is a junk-food connosieur LOVED these. I don't think he'll ever buy a box of those frozen ones again- he'll bug me to make these instead. A handy trick that I learned from my favorite TV guru, Alton Brown, put the batter in a drinking glass and then you can just dunk the corndog in it to cover it completely. I also used Alton Brown's advice to use a Chop stick rather than a skewer because their square shape will keep the corndog on the stick better, and it doesn't have a pointy end to jab the roof of your mouth! Anyways, the recipe was really good, have made it twice. I won't even bother trying a different corndog recipe, this is it.

I have never eaten a corndog in my life, and this was my first time. I thought it was really unique....sweet, crispy on the outside, and of course salty on the inside. The baking powder made the batter very fluffy after frying which was great. I need 1 1/2 cup (approx)of milk to make it the right consistency. Yummy...the spicy sausages def. tasted better than the normal ones.

Ah i forgot to mention what I did with the leftover batter. I added cummin powder, spring onion (chopped finely) and heaps of corn kerels to it and fried them into bite size corn fritters...yummy!! You could just about chuck in what ever you have in the fridge and make all kinds of fritters with the leftovers.

I loved this recipe! I did them a bit different, I made "Dawg Bites". I just cut the hot dog in to slices, battered and fried them! The kids and my husband loved them!!

I made these for my 6-year-olds b'day and everyone was quite taken with them. They were a breeze to make, too. I used little cocktail franks on toothpick 'skewers'. Wonderful, bite-sized morsels that kids and adults alike appreciated. I got about 70 miniature corndogs using the recipe as written and the cocktail franks.

Excellent taste! I put the batter in a large cup as recommended by a previous reviewer and it worked very well. I used my long breakfast skillet to fry these on the stovetop. I guessed on the oil temperature and it seemed to work well except I took them out of the oil too quickly because some of them weren't cooked all the way through the middle. Next time I make these, I will fry them until they turn a slightly darker color. If you do undercook them, you can always put them in the oven to cook through. Also, make sure you flour the dogs first. It makes a huge difference with the batter.

These turned out really well. I cut my hot dogs in half and made them without the sticks. I also froze the leftovers and they reheated wonderfully (I baked them at 400 for about 10 minutes). Thanks for sharing.

Wow! This was so good. I didn't have any sticks, so I just cut the hot dogs in half and used a fondu skewer to dip them in the mixture. I used exactly 1 1/3 cups of milk, for anyone wondering how much to use. It made the batter pretty thick and it coated really well. I dropped them in the oil and they fried beautifully! What a treat! I also would recommend adding 2 tbs of honey. It makes the batter sweeter. Mmmmmm... I'll be making these again.

These are excellent! I just got done making them at around 8:30am today, and they smelled and looked so good that I ate one for breakfast (I was trying to make them ahead of time for dinner.) I added about 1 1/2 tablespoons of honey to the batter just for extra sweetness, and it worked great. My batter I think was a bit too thin, but it was my fault for adding to much milk...easy enough to fix next time. Well, thank you for a wonderful recipe!

Our kids love corn dogs, so when I saw this recipe, I had to try it! I made a batch tonight, and the kids thought they tasted great. (Okay, Mum and Dad thought so, too!) They went down so well, that later on, I made another batch, this time making mini corn dogs (without sticks). I have frozen them, and placed them in a freezer-proof container in a single layer. We usually purchase mini corn dogs from Schwan's, but from now on, we'll be able to make our own. (At a fraction of the cost!) Thanks, Shannon!
