Tried this tonight, as I had everything on hand, and the recipe was simple. I think the key here is something pointed out by Sugarpea....cook with a lid on the casserole...which is what I did. Turned out great and is a keeper. Lots can be done with this recipe. I did not mind the veggies being on top of the beef, since I really prefer the total taste of each of the veggies without a whole lot of interference from the meat. The lid kept the moisture in the veggies, and still gave them a subtle flavor in the cooking. Thanks Millie for a good basic recipe that is so adaptable to many veggie variations!

Very easy and adaptable recipe, makes a good gravy with the meat. I shared this recipe with a coworker and she made it that night with her daughters. I have used green beans instead of green peppers and sometimes I have also have used a bit of onion powder.

Ah, the simple life. This basic recipe adapted well to the addition of cajun seasoning. I baked the casserole with a cover and was pleased with the amount of flavorful juices produced. Meat and potato fans LOVE this.

Preparing the recipe I found out that the veggies (2 large potatoes) were too much and the 1lb of beef was not enough for my family of 4. Suggest 1 1/2 or 2 lb of beef. Otherwise a great recipe

This is one of my first real cooking experience, so the simplicity was wonderful. The only thing I would change is to put aluminum foil over the top while cooking, because the carrots got dried out a bit much and the potatoes didn't cook as thoroughly as I would have liked.

The ingredients made me try this recipe. I probably would have never put them all together this way. But, it was very good. Followed the recipe exactly. The only thing I will do differently next time is maybe add the green pepper halfway through the cooking time as mine came out mushier than I like. Other than that, a very tasty dinner - something different than your average "meat and potatoes" dinner.

This is great. Very versatile, and easy to do on a busy day. Sometimes I use frozen hashbrowns, left over baked potatoes, or mashed, what ever tator I have left over.

I made this on a day when I simply did not feel like cooking. It was simple, hearty and tasty, and a recipe that will be repeated on days when I have time but no get up and go!! Thank you Miller.

As a kid we would add all the ingredients and a couple pats of margarine to a foil packet and cook on the hot coals of a campfire. Sometimes we'd substitute the ground beef with kielbasa or smoked sausage. We'd omit the worcestershire if we used the sausage. Grandpa called it "Hobo Dinner".I would suggest seasoning the ground beef with whatever seasonings you like or it may taste a little bland.

This was ok--we weren't that impressed with the flavor. Maybe if part of the beef was put on top of the casserole, the flavor would go through out the whole dish--the potatoes and carrots just didn't have much flavor.
