I can't believe I've found this recipe. I remember living in Southern Illinois and making these with my best friend. I must have been about 9 or 10. Her grandmother helped us. I stuffed my face with these wonderful gems. Now I can make it for my kids. This is the best Christmas Cookie.

I'm posting again to say that these little buggers are my new addiction! I absolutely adore them! I have made them various ways..I really like to add different food coloring and sprinkles! I try not to keep marshmellows in the house or I'll end up making these and eating a bunch of them! LOL! Try these, they are heavenly for a sugar addict!

Thanks so much for the recipe!! We had made these many years ago, but lost the recipe. An additional tip - we used to coat our hands with butter and then "shape" into wreaths by making a hole in the center and pushing that outward. Be careful though, it seems like after shaping a wreath, we'd have to recoat our hands, otherwise we got burnt. It was worth it though. The ending result was a very realistic looking treat!!!

I made these last Sunday at a friends house. Used a large stainless steel pot to melt the marshmallows and the butter. Big mistake! You need teflon coated nonstick surface. It was hell trying to get the stuff out of the pot to form the clusters. You really need to work fast once you add the corn flakes! I only ended up with about 15 clusters. They did look very festive and they tasted wonderful!

This is the first time I've every seen or heard of these neat little treats. I hopped right into the kitchen and whipped them up. They are really CUTE! They taste great, too. I added a 1/2 tsp. of vanilla to my batch. Thanks for a neat idea.

WOW - this is one of my family's christmas favorites - we make it every year together! Although I already had the recipe, I wanted to comment to say how GREAT this recipe is, especially if you have kids! EVERYONE who looks at this recipe should try it out!!!

I'll admit these are cute, but they aren't that special taste-wise, unless you like rice krispy treats. They were the one item on my cookie tray that I notice didn't get eaten.
I also found the recipe does not work well unless you crush up the cornflakes slightly to get them to adhere to each other better and to get the red hots to adhere better as well. The marshmallow mixture doesn't blend as well with the larger cornflake pieces and ends up looking a little sickly with big globs of green gooey stuff that are really visible, instead of blending nicely into the cornflakes. I think the idea is cute, but may be executed better (and taste better) if you were to just use melted white chocolate and tinted it green. But, thank you for posting the recipe, I was glad to try it.

I loved these. We make these every christmas, but I'm always scrambling to find the recipe. I can never seem to make the wreaths, but we end up with something like mistletoe leaves. I added a touch of vanilla and a touch of almond and it was just wonderful. Yummy!!

I have been making these for over 30 years. I place the mixture in clumps then when all are spooned out I go back with buttered hands and shape. I have found that it is easier to firt just place the red hots where you want them, after all are in place go back to the first one (make sure hands are dry)and slightly press each one. This seems to make them adhere better. These really make a candy tray. Thanks for posting Ginny!!
