I cut the recipe down a bit because I only had a 8 '' pan, and maybe I didn't cut down the shortening enough. The pie shell tastes delicious but is so crumbly that you barely can get one whole piece out of the pan. As suggested I filled it with Stir Fried Apples & Cranberries, and it fit the bill perfectly. Served the pie as dessert today along with Better Than Whipped Cream, and all eaters were delighted I'll work on the texture, as I'll surely will make this again. Thanks for posting, RawwGurl! Made for PAC fall 2009.
