If you are looking for a fancy-schmancy addition to your decadent Christmas cookie tray, keep looking! If, on the other hand, you are looking for a nice little treat that can go into family lunchboxes and snacks that will provide actual nutrition without guilt, you are in the right place. These will never be a crispy-crunchy cookie, but more soft and chewy, because of the lack of fat. Do not overbake them! They should look pretty soft when they come out of the oven. I used a melonballer to scoop out the cookies, and ended up with 48. The balance of spices was excellent. These are definitely not a very sweet cookies, and this is me, the cut-the-sugar queen saying it, but I found they really grew on me. I did not add the nuts, and I might add more raisins next time. I confess I did also use one whole egg rather than two eggwhites. I don't see the point of cutting out the yolks, because then you just have to find another recipe to use them up. At least, I do, because I can't bring myself to throw out perfectly good food.

These were really great. My husband and I haven't been eating healthy for very long and have been looking for good snacks. The only thing I did differently in the recipe was use regular sweetened applesauce because that was all I had on hand. There are definitely not a sugar fix cookie, but seriously - for low fat these are awesome.

This will not replace my oatmeal cookie recipe but I will be making these again when I don't want to feel guilty about eating cookies. I did add an extra 1/2 cup sugar just because I was affraid it wouldn't be sweet enough. Other than that I made as you said and they turned out yummy. Next time I might even add more rasins. Thanks for sharing!!

I was a little worried that these would be more like Oatmeal/Raisin biscuits than cookies judging by some of the other reviewers comments about the sweetness of these, but they turned out great!! I found that the applesauce left a great sweet appley taste and the raisins really added a lot! Mine turned out crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, just as oatmeal cookies should be! I did add the nuts and the salt and used 1 whole egg instead of 2 egg whites, like Jenny Sanders. These don't spread much because the fat content is so low, so you don't have to worry about crowding really. Like ladypit said, these are really rather brown, so that may get a few raised eyebrows in that respect, but the flavor is great. I didn't add the nutmeg, because, honestly, I hate the stuff- but I substitued 1/2 tsp Cinnamon Plus #45672 for it. Really terrific and I LOVE how healthy they are. I love the subtle apple flavor. Thank you for a great snack and treat!

These were really good for a fat free cookie. I did sub 1 whole egg for the egg whites and chocolate chips for the walnuts as my kids don't care for nuts in cookies. If they are not going to be eaten up right away, they should be stored in the fridge or freezer though, because baked goods without added fat tend to go stale very quickly. Good recipe, have made it a few times already.

This is a fine healthy cookie. Not very sweet and they are very brown looking (for some people the color might turn them off), but they have a nice texture and flavor. Good for snacks!

I have made these twice and think they are amazing for a fat-free cookie. I used one whole egg instead of 2 egg whites, and also added 1/2 cup of splenda so they would be slightly sweeter. They are easy to make and have been a hit with everyone I've shared them with.

Good, healthy snack. I would cut down on the nutmeg next time, and I did use 1/2 cup white flour for part of the whole wheat flour, as no one here wants to eat anything completely whole wheat. Cooked fast. I left out the uts, but added more raisins, which was good. Good, recipe for lunches and snacks.

In these, I think I've found my new breakfast! I used mixed dried fruit instead of raisins to up the nutritional content a hair, and 1 1/2 teaspoons apple pie spice in place of the cinnamon and nutmeg out of sheer laziness. I think that next time, I will soak the fruit a little, increase the applesauce to 1 cup and bake them a few minutes longer, since they were a bit dry for me. This recipe would also be awesome using other fruit/nut combinations, like chopped dried apricot and almond. Definitely a new regular into my routine!
