25 Reviews of Brown Sugar Shortbread

From: Wyo_Krista_Cooks

This is the exact recipe I was looking for! I had lost my version and LOVE this shortbread, particularly dipped in chocolate. My only comment is that they took about 1/2 of the recommended baking time--maybe 14 minutes. Just keep an eye on them! Thanks for a delicious recipe!

Simple and tasty! I will be making these again! I excluded 1/4 cup of the flour, and sprinkled sugar on top. These are 5 star cookies, all the way. Thanks

I substituted half of the butter with applesauce, which gave the shortbread a wonderfully delicate appley flavour. I also baked for an hour for some more 'crunch'. Overall, great recipe! This one's a sure keeper.

These are great and soooo easy. I added a 1/2 tsp. mexican vanilla. Yum!

Easy, simple, delicious ... what more do you want for a holiday treat? My house smells wonderful right now, thanks to these cookies. They have a terrific taste, were stress-free to make, and the bar shape is a nice change from round cookies. I'll be making another batch tomorrow.

This was lovely. It was not too sweet, which was nice. I was not sure what to expect from the brown sugar. I thought it might give a caramel taste, but it just gave a mellow flavor. I messed up and added the flour all at once rather than a bit at a time, which meant that it took a while to blend in. If you use unsalted butter, as I did, I recommend adding a pinch of salt.

This recipe has been tasted and approved by my scottish mother in law and she actually wanted the recipe! Which is a lot said, because she is very proud for the recipe she has been using for umpteen years. Me myself am more fond of sweeter tasting cookies and would increase the amount of sugar or sprinkle some extra on top. Very good, buttery and crumbly.

This was extremely easy and quick to make. It made the house smell lovely. My English fiance said it was perfect, even better than the shortbread he would normally buy from the store. It's authentic and tastes wonderful. Thank you!
