I made this for Lennie's cook a thon. I hope you are feeling better Lennie!
I made four double batches of this jam yesterday!! The package of fruit pectin that I used was was 57g (just for anyone who has never made jam before and wants to know). My mother in law makes strawberry freezer jam and it is a favourite of my DH. This recipe is just like his mom's and he was so happy to have jam and toast this morning. I did whirl the second, third, and fourth batches through the blender as my family seems to like it without the big chunks. Thanks for posting this recipe!

I tried out a variation of this recipe. I used a different type of pectin which requires much less sugar (less then half). It turned out awesome!!! Thanks for idea.

This recipe was very easy, I thought I would take a short-cut and chop the berries in my food processor (please don't do this) You MUST crush the berries by hand, or you will have a soupy mixture, instead of a jam. I made a second batch and crushed the berries with a potato masher. This worked perfectly. This is a great No-Fail recipe. I will use this again and again!

you are absolutely right Lennie, there is no going back to regular jam after this. Just two suggestions, 1, try Ball pectin it really has the freshest flavor, and if you can choose the type of strawberries. that you will use there are some called Shucksan here in the Pacific Northwest that are just huge and quite dark, but they have the most intense strawberry flavor.

Excellent!!! I tried this recipe with blackberries and it came out perfect. The only thing I would do different is to strain the seeds out next time. I'm anxious to try this with strawberries!!! Thank you!

I can't believe how easy this is! I always got my freezer jam from my mom or my mother in law, but from now on I will be making my own! The flavor is wonderful and the entire recipe can be ready and set on the counter to gel in less than 30 minutes. Making my own jam lets me know exactly what is in it ~ Fresh is always Best! Thanks, Lennie : )

This was my first time making jam and it turned out great! I had a bunch of strawberries that were about to go bad, so I went in search of a way to use them up. I didn't have enough small plastic containers so I used glass canning jars. I didn't pay enough attention to where it said to "crush them thoroughly, one layer at a time", so my berries weren't crushed enough which caused them to sit at the top of the jar after being filled. It didn't change the wonderful taste of the jam, but I'll be sure to make sure they're crushed completely next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Excellent, easy recipe....I have a "Pampered Chef" chopper which made crushing the strawberries a very quick task. Definitely a keeper.

My first batch was more like syrup, but with help from the Community Board, I found out where I went wrong. You can NOT cut back on the amount of sugar. Use the exact measurements for this, and achieve PERFECTION
just like I did. My friends love this, and for me, it's like a spoonful of goodness. My grandma used to make this, and everytime I have it, I think of her. Pamela, thanks for sharing and for the wonderful memories it's brought back. YUMMY! YUM!!!
PS ~ I've frozen this in both glass jars and plastic containers and both work well.

Nice! This was my first time at making freezer jam and now I wonder why I waited so long!?? Couldn't be easier. I would prefer mine to be a little thicker and maybe not quite so sweet though, so next time I will cut back on the water and sugar. Very yummy. Thanks for posting!
