I was looking for something different to make using ground beef and came across this recipe. I was skeptical about trying it because of the dressing but it was good. I used Frito Lay corn chip scoops instead of the doritos. Instead of mixing it all together, I made individual salads and topped it off with a dollop of sour cream. The leftover ingredients are easier to store this way and you don't have to worry about the salad getting soggy. My son and I really enjoyed this meal.

I liked this alot. Next time I would go easier on the dressing, kinda sweet. I thought it was better the next day! LOL Thanks for a good recipe.

My mom has made this for years. I really love it! Instead of mixing things all together, we just crush a handful of Doritos on a plate, add the hamburger mixture, then top with your toppings. This way you can enjoy it while it's still hot and it's easy for storing any leftovers in the fridge for the next day (the Doritos won't be mushy because you didn't mix it all together!) We also add a can of Kidney Beans into the hamburger mixture. Yum! Great recipe!!!

My mother-in-law gave me this recipe many years ago and it remains a family favorite. We enjoy this as our lunch. You also can corn and black beans. A great recipe to try.

Delicious! I only made one change and that was to use just pound of ground beef and add a drained and rinsed can of kidney beans. I also had to put the onions and tomtoes on the side to add in for those who wanted it. This will be a regular for us as it is so good and so easy (my favorite recipe word...easy)! UPDATE: Don't throw out those leftovers!! I am having the leftovers for lunch today and YUM... the salad is still really good!

My family makes this salad alot. Some of our differences are that we don't put ground beef in it, although that would probably be a good addition. But instead of the meat and taco seasoning, we put in ranch style beans, it already has chili seasoning it them and it goes very well with the catalina dressing. We also use fritos instead of Doritos. We also like to cut up green onions with the tops into it.

This is so good, we've been making it for years just like this except western dressing instead. We always take it to church pot lucks and the bowl is scraped clean when we bring it home!
