What a flavorful combination!I ended up using a can of kidney beans instead of butterbeans. After we filled our bellies the leftovers went in the fridge and guess what we had as a side dish for Sunday breakfast? Yes, these wonderful beans. The only extra thing I added was about 1/2 tsp of liquid smoke.Yum!

These beans were wonderful! I didn't have a can of butter beans so I used three cans of pork and beans! I followed the recipe as stated, and was so very pleased with the results! These were a great side dish to go with our pork chops! Thanks for another wonderful recipe, Merlot! Keep them coming!

I used a little less than a pound of hamburger, and of course a little less than a pound of bacon (how could I fry a whole pound of bacon without sneaking some for a BLT?) and stuck to the 2 cans pork and beans and one can butter beans. Loved this stuff! Even DH liked it. The butter beans add a very interesting and pleasant flavor. I made this in the crock pot, on low for about 3-4 hours. It got nice and thick. I served it with Broccoli Cornbread Casserole Broccoli Cornbread Casserole. It smells great, love the texture, both visual and whatever the other is called (you know, the texture in your mouth while chewing it) At any rate, I made sure to cook my bacon nice and dark crispy and it was still crunchy by the time I sat down to it. This gives a good solid mouthful, unlike other baked beans with less texture. This is going in my hard copy Book Of Recipes.

Really great beans Merlot! I love tomato soup, and it added just the right flavor without tasting soupy, if that makes sense! I made them as the recipe read, except i left out the ground beef, only because i served them with hamburgers, i'll make them with the ground beef next time. The mixture of beans was also great. i'll definately make these again.

My family prefers butter beans so I used all 3 cans of butter beans instead of the pork & beans. The crowd went wild! I had to promise to never make baked beans any other way.

Fabulous and super easy. I did add 1 Tsp of Hickory Liguid Smoke. Gave it a great added kick. I also was out of bacon, but it was still great!

I used 2 cans of the butter beans. One seemed lost in it. I used ground turkey which gave it a great richness and texture. One pound of bacon which I removed a lot of fat before frying. I fried 1 large onion and 1 small red pepper with the bacon and ground turkey. I used 1/2 cup of the sugar and it was sweet. Thanks Merlot —

I halved the recipe, using butterbeans, and wiped the bacon grease from the pan so that it was just barely coating. I also chopped and added about a quarter of a leftover green pepper, chopped, with the beef and onion. The preparation time is shown as 30 minutes, but I didn't find it to be more than 12-15 minutes. Oh, yes, and it's very good.
