120 Reviews of Crunchy Granola

I can't believe I've just now made this! It is WONDERFUL! I halved the recipe b/c I didn't have enough oats, and used about 3/4 a cup of sliced almonds and about 1 cup of pecans (it's what I had on hand); it's sooooo good. I immediately topped a serving of fresh fruit salad with some once it cooled; I left about half plain and added 2 handfuls of dried cranberries to the other half. This was easy, made the house smell great while cooking, and absolutely delicious. Best recipe I've tried in a while, and I've tried many really good ones.

This is a wonderful recipe for basic granola; one of my two favorites of all those I've tried on Zaar so far. It's easy, inexpensive, and a huge favorite around here. I didn't add in the nuts, due to family allergies, and forgot to reduce the amount of brown sugar accordingly so I was concerned it would be too sweet, but it was still wonderful (the kids loved the extra sweetness ;o). I tossed in a handful of leftover wheat germ, Grape Nuts, and ground flax; they matched well. The girls added golden raisins to theirs, we also tried dried apricots, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds; all good add-ins. I can already tell we'll be making this a lot ~ thanks!

I really liked this recipe. I actually made it about 6 months ago (and forgot to review it - sorry) when I was looking for some way to use up an abundance of Kashi cereal (it was on sale and I got carried away), so I tried using half Kashi and half rolled oats and it was great! I added raisins to half of it for dh to snack on, and I left half plain for me, but you could add chocolate chips, dried fruit, coconut, sunflower seeds — the ideas are endless for this flexible recipe. Thanks for posting it.

Wow! I'm very impressed with this recipe! I just got done making it with quick oats (all I had on hand because it's the end of the grocery week) for cerealy tomorrow morning. This turned out great! I will definitely be picking up ingredients at the store to make some more of this! Yummy! I might just skip getting a box of cereal and make this for the week! Thanks for sharing this with us! UPDATE: I have just tried both quick oats and the rolled oats and really have to say I like the quick oats better, especially if you are going to use it for cereal. It seems to cluster together a little better so you have those little crunchy clusters which makes it great for a cereal!

This is the same recipe I use for granola--I ADORE this recipe! I make this by the truckload and have for at least a couple of years now. I actually like to keep my almonds whole when I make this and I've added dates before. I just can't say enough about this recipe and I'm glad to see it's made its way to Zaar.

I was reading a thread about vegetarian cooking where meow mentioned some of her favorite recipes, including this one. Since I usually like what she has made and reviewed I came to the recipe to take a look. When I read the review by BGgirl where she used some leftover Kashi cereal I realized that I had some to use up too so I decided to try this and use up some things. I used what was left over of the Kashi cereal, some wheat germ, and mostly rolled oats. For the nuts I used a few tbsp. of peanuts, my leftover almonds (left whole), and the rest of a bag of cashews. This is really tremendously tasty especially with no added fat. Oh, and I just sprayed the pan with cooking spray instead of using parchment paper. As it was cooling I realized that I needed a gift for a group tonigt so I bagged it in snack size bags (about 1 serving) and passed it out to the children's council at church. Thanks for this one! I will be making it again and again!

Wow - this stuff is addicting! Not too sweet is the best part. I made a batch this weekend and brought some into the office and now EVERYONE wants some so I have to make a quadruple batch to keep everyone happy! I added some sunflower seeds and used dried cranberries and dried peaches - yum!

Wow. Crunchy nutty goodness!! Made it exactly as stated (with extra pecans) and we really love the texture and the flavor. I may mess around with the nuts a little on the next batch. This is a keeper!!

Very nice! Makes a good bit of granola--I almost didn't have a bowl big enough to mix all this stuff up in. I like this for breakfast mixed with yogurt, cranberries, and dates.
