I loved the flavor of this dish and it looks beautiful on the table. I only added a half teaspoon of sugar, as I was afraid it would be too sweet for our tastes, and it was just perfect. Great recipe, thanks for posting!

This was fabulously tasty and easy! I used fresh green beans and that seemed to make a real difference! I didn't have garlic salt so I used garlic powder instead. The combination of butter, sugar, basil and garlic is quite outstanding, and perfect for tomatoes and beans. This makes 4 really generous servings, but even so, this recipe is guaranteed to be gobbled whole... it's really exceptional. Thanks Merlot, this one will be a regular!

I make this frequently. I use fresh or frozen green beans and have subbed diced and seeded roma tomatoes for the cherry tomatoes. Everyone loves it. Plus, it is an excellent way to get that variety of color (that the drs recommend) into your diet. Yum!

I made this as directed. I made it again and substitued Mrs. Dash for the basil, which is more suited to my taste. It was tasty the first time but excellent the second time. I also used plum tomatoes and peeled them first, then diced them.

Delicious and easy! I used frozen green beans that I heated up per package directions. The veggie hating hubs enjoyed these and I loved them. If you're using frozen, just remember to drain the beans after you heat them, before adding the seasoned tomatoes, or the excess water will keep all that goodness from sticking to the veggies. Learn from my mistake!
Also, I never keep garlic salt so I made my own mixture of 3:1 salt to garlic powder. If you're halving this recipe, it works out perfectly to 3 (1/8 teaspoons) of salt and 1 (1/8 teaspoon) garlic powder.

Everyone loved the flavor, but not everyone liked the tomatos. I did though. Thought that this recipe was great. I will make it again with tomatos for me and without for everyone else.

I agree with all the reviews, this is super! The ultimate test was my husband, who doesn't like tomatoes... he said it was VERY good!!

This was a great side dish! I do not expect my son to eat his beans, so when he finished these off, I was shocked! The basil and garlic was not too over powering (because of the sugar?) Yet the flavors all came together to enhanse the flavor of the tomatoes??? I am still not sure why these beans tasted so good to my son, or to myself. I will have to repeat this recipe many times to figure it out I guess.

This is a wonderful recipe! It's so easy to prepare and the finished product is so pretty. The flavors blend nicely and nothing is overpowering. Other than the facts that I used frozen french cut beans and Roma tomatoes, I followed the recipe. I think that I'll take this for my lunch tomorrow.
Thank you for this recipe! (I wish that I had seen this recipe before Christmas - it would have looked nice on the table!).
