28 Reviews of Tiramisu Cupcakes (Uses Cake Mix)

From: Maria #7

OUTSTANDING! I love tiramisu, it's one of my favorite things in the world. I made these yesterday for a dinner party last night and I have to tell you that every single person was flabbergasted as to how delicious these were. Everyone asked for the recipe. I took the advice of the previous reviewer and didn't bother with a pastry bag. I just layered on the mascarpone layer after I pierced the cupcake with an X formation using a 2 prong meat fork - poured on the coffee mixture, topped with the mascarpone layer then topped with the cream layer & dusted with shaved Dove dark chocolate. I saw in another recipe to use the foil cupcake liners instead of paper due to "soggyness" so that was a good pointer. Anyway, I plan on making these time & time again. Thank you!!!!!!!!

Chef #823941 was desperately looking for someone to take a picture of this recipe, and not being able to resist any kind of tiramisu, I offered to make and photograph them for her. I'm so glad that I accepted her challenge because I am in tiramisu heaven! These are absolutely delicious little gems!! I followed the ingredient list to a T, but found that the frosting didn't suit my taste, so I frosted the remaining cupcakes with the leftover filling, which makes the cupcakes taste more like traditional tiramisu. Also, I didn't have anything to inject the filling into the cupcakes, so I simply cut a good-sized hole from the top (down into the middle of each cupcake), brushed more coffee mixture inside, and then used a small spoon to fill the hole. I then frosted each cupcake with the leftover filling and they came out absolutely perfect!!

10 STARS! This recipe is absolutely wonderful and really very easy! The mascarpone filling is TO DIE FOR - I had to restrain myself from eating all of it before I used it in the recipe! Instead of using muffin pans, I used a "mini bundt" pan. (I'm not sure how else to describe it, but it looks like miniature bundt cakes!) I piped the mascarpone filling into the cakes and also on the top on the cake. I did not use the cream cheese frosting this time, but will definitely try it next time! I topped the cake with chocolate shavings and a strawberry. My guests LOVED these! Thank you so much for sharing this elegant (and simple!) dessert recipe!

Just made these for a friend's birthday. They were a HUGE hit. I made the mascarpone filling and the cupcakes the night before, then brushed on the coffee layer and frosted them a few hours before serving them. I couldn't really taste the coffee layer but my friend that I made them for said she could. I might brush a little more of the coffee layer on next time, just for my own unsophisticated palate! Regardless, everyone loved these and they were easy enough that I would definitely make them again! EDITED just to add that I had a TON of the mascarpone filling left over - not that that's a bad thing! It will definitely find a good home in my belly. However, I had more than half of it left, so if you don't want to use entire tubs of mascarpone and cool whip, you could definitely scale down that part of the recipe.

HOLY COW ~ THESE WERE AWESOME!!!!! I usually make tirmisu and this by far was the best in cupcake form!! I followed the directions as stated ~ I used the foil liners which was easier to handle and they present better ~ I used the silicone brush to brush on the coffee mixture and in the morning I filled the cupcakes ~ I had a HUGH syringe that I used and sucked up the filling and was able to insert and inject the filling ~ it was even easier to refill when I had to! I used a Chocolate Hershery bar and a potato peeler and made my shavings. These were a hit at our Father's Day celebration ~ this will definately be a recipe I will use all the time!! THANK YOU BLONDIEITALIAN ~ from a Blond Italian also!! LOL

By far, this recipe will exceed your expectations. It's so decadent that the cupcake size of it is perfect. These morsels honestly melt in your mouth. The layering of flavors combined with the soft, fluffy texture make them incredible. An unbelievably fabulous recipe!!

These are FANTASTIC! Thank you so much for posting! I used an apple corer and went about 1/2 way down into the cupcake to pull out a plug- out of the center of the cupcake. I piped the filling in and cut off the top of plug/cork shaped cake and plugged it back up. Super Easy!! Next time after I core out a bit I will put a little of the coffee mixture at the bottom of the hole YUM!

Holy Terrific!!!! These were so delicious I can't even describe. If you like Tiramisu, you will LOVE these. I somehow couldn't figure out how to "inject" the mascarpone filling (I was using a frosting bag) so I just piled it on top of the cupcakes and then piled on the frosting, they turned out fine & probably won't bother trying to figure out the other way next time either. I should say that I purposely didn't fill my muffin cups all the way with cupcake batter so this allowed me to layer the mascarpone then the frosting easier. And you know what, they were probably even easier to make by omitting that step anyhow. Anyway, Excellent cupcakes. I dusted them with cocoa powder and they looked like a million bucks! ***** 5 stars on this one for sure! UPDATE TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: I just made these AGAIN at request of a handful of people that got to try them last time I made them a few weeks ago. Again, everyone RAVED! I still haven't attempted to "inject" them yet, but maybe next time since I see a few of you reviewers have done it that way.

I hate to be the bummer reviewer... but these were just "ok" for me. I think, only because I used a boxed cake mix (Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe). The actual cake had a "fake" taste & feel. I will try these again, using a from-scratch cupcake. On a positive note... the filling was nice and fluffy without being too strong or sweet. I could not find French Vanilla Cool-Whip anywhere so I used regular and added 2 tea pure vanilla extract. I filled the cupcakes using a pastry bag, but I think that I would use the other reviewers' ideas to layer the cupcakes and filling... that way, you get that wonderful taste in every bite! Another idea might be to bake them with a nice crown then cut & hollow them out a bit, fill them, replace the "lid" and frost, sealing up the area where the cut would be made. Next time, I will also soak the cakes with way more coffee. By the way, because of the coffee layer, you NEED to use FOIL liners. For those of you who haven't used the mascarpone cheese yet... totally worth it! Very creamy and a bit easier to work with IMO. I will try this recipe again with a from-scratch cake (that is more like lady fingers), more coffee liquid & I will layer the mascarpone filling... then rate it more fairly.

wow! I made these today for my daughter's birthday and her b/f's is tomorrow, I hope they taste as good as they look ... WOWZERS! I will update after dinner tonight once my guests are gone ...Wish me luck ,lmao Well, i'm back and my guest were amazed all u heard was ummm, omggg, this is so good everyone was happy and that made me smile tyvm for great recipe blondie will be making this again for sure
