Delicious! I dumped all the ingredients in my crock pot and cooked it on low for about 6 hours. It came out perfectly. Great recipe!

We are total carnivores but LOVED this vegetarian meal. We used it as burrito filling and I doubled the recipe and froze half in the bottom of a casserole dish for a taco casserole later. So yummy! I don't think we'll ever use taco meat again!

We love this recipe! I love that it really is easy and cheap and delicious enough for my omnivores, and I can now make it even easier - I just toss it all in my rice cooker!
I used the "Brown Rice" setting on mine and let it go for about an hour until it beeped. I will warn people, though: I made a double batch, which COMPLETELY filled my 5.5c. model. It also fed my family of 6 tacos, plus lunches for 4 plus snackies (with chips or crackers). This makes a LOT! As far as the "4 servings", that must be for really hungry people or for overstuffed burritos! Thanks so much for posting.

This is super yummy! The consistancy alone isn't like ground meat, but in a taco it's very comparable. Very easy to make. This is a perfect way to make a ground meat substitute and I will experiment with it quite a bit. Simply change the seasonings to fit your dish. It's going to be great... Edited 08/09: This is a great sub for anything calling for ground beef! I make big batches and freeze. Great for taco salads, nachos, ground "beef" stroganof, etc. The possibilities are endless! I think it's all about the texture... Now i just want to try to figure out how to make it into meatballs....

This is easy and inexpensive, but it has such a hearty good taste. My daughter was worried about how it looked and worried she might not like the texture. But the texture is just like the meat taco mixture. We do "tacos" nacho style so we served this with a bit of salsa garnish and a bit of cheeder cheese for garnish as well, with yellow corn tortilla chips. YUM! Thank you DixonBookLover!!!

Delish! Super easy to make with ingredients I usually have around the house. I used veggie bullion and added a bit of salt. I served this with baked corn tortillas, Mexcan slaw, avocados, salsa and hot sauce. I will make this again for sure. thanks for posting!

What a good idea to use lentils as a taco filling. My fussy teenagers wont eat it but I love it and can add as much chilli as I like since I only have to please myself, very versitile to serve with rice. Many thanks, chris. P.S. I just made this for my dinner, I added 2 potatoes, small dice as well as a sweet potatoe. It was amazing I didn't miss the meat and there was plenty of flavour also I used white rice but that was because I couldn't be bothered going to the supermarket. Thanks again will be making this again.

This was absolutely delicious. Even my two year old ate it. I had to cut down on the chili a little but other than that we loved it. My husband loves tacos but hates ground anything so I am very limited as to fillings. This will be made weekly in our house.

I have done a similar recipe with canned lentils and no rice. You don't need to simmer it very long that way, or add very much broth. You will need about 1/2 cup to 2 cans of lentils.
