Woof woof woof woof woof means 5 stars from my furkids! These were so easy to make! I used whole wheat flour and chicken broth instead of water, only because I had it on hand. These biscuts will become a regular treat for my dogs! Thanks for posting!

This recipe deserves 5 stars for the use of the healthy ingredients listed. I used WHEAT FLOUR in this recipe instead of white flour. (WHITE FLOUR is very UNHEALTHY for you pet)and should never be used in any pet recipe. I commend Kim for making a note that wheat flour is probably better. My vet agreed this is a good recipe.

My dog and my boyfriend's dog seem to like these. I think mine may have come out a bit too crunchy, but not like they won't eat them! The really good thing about this recipe is that I got to use up the extra 1/2 cup of pumpkin I had left over from making muffins. Thanks!

I always show any recipe i make for my dogs to their vet and this got a thumbs up from him and my dogs. I did have to use alot less salt but that didn't seem to make a difference. I used wheat flour as suggested. I also made this to take to my weekly dog club meeting and all the dogs at the meeting also gave it two paws up. thanks for the great recipe.

Update January 2009. These were a best-seller at a bake sale last year. We charged 25 cents for a large "bone" and 10 cents for a small one. We advertised them as organic, since we used home-grown pumpkin and local eggs.

i, too, had 1/2 cup pumpkin in freezer so this was great. I did add 1/4 cup steelcut oats, 1/4 cup cornmeal and a 1/4 cup wheat germ just because i had them here and they seemed healthy items. I then added an extra egg as it was to crumbly. No water. i rolled it out like a sausage and cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Used cream of wheat(dry of course) sprinkled on board for easier rolling. I baked for about an hour at 350°. then I left them in a 200° for a couple more hors. my two pooches really loved them. many thanks for the pumpkin idea.

Even before my dog tried these, they got 5 stars from ...yes, my kids. Guess that's what happens when the 3yr old is having a "pretend I'm Clifford" day, and of course if the big kid wants a doggy biscuit, the 1 yr old wants one too. Well, not just one; they ate several. I couldn't bring myself to try even one, even though of course all ingredients are perfectly edible for humans (I used whole wheat flour and leftover cooked fresh pumpkin--as for the above comment about steel cut oats, they are much too expensive where I live and much too delicious for me to feed my dog, but...hey, if the kids are partaking...). My husband, upon hearing how popular they were with the children, gingerly tried one, complaining about how hard they were (I reminded him that most doggy treats are). He didn't take seconds, but I wouldn't blame the recipe. Well, we finally tested them out on our new pup, and she was VERY enthusiastic about them--even more so than the kids were! Thanks, Kim, for giving me a laugh today.

Rei wants me to thank you with lots of puppy kisses and licks for this recipe. I didn't have any canned pumpkin, so I used 1/2 cup of mashed bananas instead. I also used WW flour and didn't have to add any water at all. In fact the dough was quite moist and I couldn't roll it out. Instead I shaped it into balls and flattened them with my palm. This is a great, versatile recipe - I imagine it would be great with applesauce, mashed carrots too! The baking times are 20minutes for 1st side and 15mins for the 2nd.

I made these and my dogs love them, but they aren't critics by any means.... they'll pretty much eat anything I toss to them. I omitted the milk powder because I didn't have any on hand. They puffed up and hollowed out, I'm not sure why.
