Quick, easy and tasty. Reminds me of chocolate covered toffee. I halved the recipe and put it in a 9 x 13 pyrex. (used 15 saltines -they fit well and half of everything else). Put sliced almonds on the top. Yummy!

Really super yummy! They lose their crunch and get soggy fast though so eat em real quick or store em in a very airtight container.

I think this is my favorite treat, but I don't make them often because they're so addicting!! It's a good thing I normally don't have Saltines on hand.
For those who had trouble with the melting of the sugar and butter, my recipe says to boil for 3 minutes. I've never had a problem with it - except for the time all of my pots were dirty so I decided to microwave instead of cooking it on the stovetop. That didn't combine as well, but I used it anyway and it still tasted good!
I also would recommend watching these very carefully. My recipe says to bake them for only 7 minutes, but the oven temp is listed as 400 degrees. I may try 350 next time like it says here since there have been times when I've burnt them slightly.
I never thought to grease the foil either and have always had a problem getting them out of the pan. Definitely will grease the foil in the future...
And I always keep them stored in the fridge. They tend to get gooey if I leave them in room temp - but I live in AZ so it's probably too hot in my house!

These are sooo yummy. Buttery, sweet, crunchy bites with chocolate! You may have to really mix the butter and sugar so the butter doesn't separate...but well worth the effort. These never made the gift baskets, even though I made 5 or 6 batches (my son and hubby ate them all and I ran out of chips!!!!) I also made them with coconut sprinkled on top or no nuts and they were still great!

This is the BEST stuff!! And it's sooooooo easy to make. I believe it took a total of 10 mins!! And it's a big hit with everyone!! Can you beleive it's made with crackers?? How cheap! I'm putting it in Christmas tins for gifts (neighbors, teachers) this year.

...plus 5 plus 5!!! These are quite possibly, almost definitely the most divine things I have ever put into my mouth!! I only made half a recipe because I didn't have enough brown sugar to make a whole recipe. Needless to say, I am going to the store bright and early tomorrow for more brown sugar to make up another batch!! I absolutely could not believe that there were saltine crackers underneath the yummy toffee flavored, chocolate topping!! I used walnuts for the nuts. I ate about half of what I made, then decided I better stop so I could let the rest of the family try them out. Well-recieved by all!! Caution: may be harmful to one's waistline due to the addictive quality of this candy....But OHHHHH, so worth it!! Thank you for a TERRIFIC recipe!!! ~Manda

A wonderful recipe, especially aroung the holiday season. I've made this about four times and have a suggestion for the lady who thought it was difficult to get the butter and brown sugar to combine. They will get foamy throughout if the mixture is cooked for 3-4 minutes AFTER the butter is completely melted, stirring frequently. Yes....everyone does want the recipe! Thanks, Amy! Oh, yes....the new Reynolds Release foil works great.

I made these just out of curiosity. Candy made with Saltine Crackers? Well I have to tell you these are soooo good and so easy to make. I love english toffee and these have a similar flavor. I have made this 2 times now once with almonds and the second time with pecans. Both are great.
