An absolute winner at our 4th of July picnic! I used up a 16oz container of Cool Whip and also split the chocolate sauce in half, adding half in step #5 and the other half in step #7 between the top layers of whipped topping and peanuts, drizzled on. I think this made for a nice presentation, as well. I wanted to add some stemmed maraschino cherries to the top but didn't have enough on hand. This is also a great recipe to make ahead of time and could easily be pulled out of the freezer if you get "emergency company"; also great to have in the freezer for a quick summer snack or dessert for those busy weeknights. Great recipe! Everyone loved it and got many requests for this recipe from the picnic guests as everyone could not believe how easy it was when I told them. A recipe that I'll definitly make many times over.

I also got this recipe out of Quick Cooking magazine a few years ago and it has quickly become a family favorite! I actually use one layer with the fudge topping and add one layer of carmel topping. Rich and delicious!

This dessert looks and tastes like a very complicated dessert to make! My guests couldn't believe when I told them how easy it was. What a wonderful treat and very impressive looking. Thank Anita for sharing. I will put this recipe in my "keeper" notebook.

Very delicious dessert! I made this while we were at our home away from home(the lake) so I didn't have any peanuts on hand. I used M&M's and added caramel topping along with fudge topping and it still came out excellent. I shared the dessert with friends and they couldn't believe how easy and simple and so good it was. Its another keeper in my awesome dessert book! Thanks Carolinafan for sharing this delicious dessert!

I was going to enter this recipe as "Turtle Dessert" (from Southern Living) when I found this recipe which is so similar. The differance..spreading caramel topping on the ice cream sandwiches, next sprinkling w/chopped pecans, then spreading thawed whipped topping, more pecans and then dribbling hot fudge topping. Easy and absolutely delicious. My luncheon guests all asked for recipe.

Yum-O! I used chocolate syrup and caramel topping. Omitted the peanuts, minced a snickers bar and sprinkled on top. I think the longer it sits in the freezer the better. We ate some after 6 hours and it was even better after about 24 hours. It seemed to have set up more. Great to have on hand in the freezer for a quick dessert. Thanks for the recipe!

So simple and delicious! This looks like you spent more time than you actually did. I used 12 ice cream sandwiches and a 8x8 glass baking dish. I spread chunky peanut butter over the first layer of sandwiches to go for that Reeses flavor. I only used about 1/4 of a cup, softened in the microwave, because that's all I had. I would use even more next time. I also used chocolate syrup instead of fudge topping and left out the peanuts. I think this would be good with Kahlua drizzled on the sandwiches for an adult dessert. I will be making this often. Thanks.
