92 Reviews of Mashed Potatoes

Turned out wonderful.I started in cold water, bring to a boil (takes about 15 min). cover and simmer about 30 min. until fork tender. Drain and place back in pan over heat 30 seconds to remove water. I then followed directions but wanted to explain the boiling method because until someone told me a good method I wasn't sure the best way to boil the potatoes. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

These were so good, fluffy, and tasty! My finnicky daughter forfeited dessert so she could have more of these potatoes! I threw in a couple of garlic cloves into the water the potatoes were boiling in to soften them, and added them into the mixer to blend. Great if you love garlic....as I do!!

Delicious!! This is the best mashed potatoes! The only thing that was different with mine, was the amount of potatoes. I only had 4 russets, but I kept the amounts of everything else the same. Also, I warmed the milk and margarine together. It was so creamy and had the perfect texture. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!

A very good, simple recipe with that little something extra to bring it over the top. I make mashed potatoes similarly, but without the sour cream. The sour cream is the extra secret ingredient that makes the difference. Thanks for sharing.

Good,down-to-earth recipe. I did use butter instead of margarine (personal taste)and warmed up the milk with a couple of cloves of garlic (minced) in it. I think that butter milk might be a nice substitute for the regular milk; to add just a little bit of "tang" to the under-lying taste.

These mashed potatoes are DELICIOUS. I didn't use a mixer, though, as I think it makes the potoatoes 'gluey' (I haven't tried using a mixer for more than 10 years, but this is how I remember them, I might as well be wrong, though...). I used that hand-held tool to mash them and mashed a kilo which where nine potatoes. The meal was just for the two of us and we had a beautiful butternut squash soup with coriander and pumpkin seed pesto as a starter and ate the mashed potatoes as a side dish together with roast and roastd vegetables. Although everything tasted great, we ended up finishing the kilo of potatoes! Yes, just the two of us! In fact tiger told me he devoured the leftovers when doing the dishes! This means that I won't have any leftover mashed potatoes to eat with my roast today

Loved them! The only thing I did differently was to cut the recipe in half since there is only two of us. I really was craving comfort food and these went great with Real Southern Style Green Beans and Beef Patties in Onion Gravy. At first, I thought the pototoes were going to be a little watery, but once I whipped them up, they were so light and fluffy. I boiled my potates in salted water so they were almost perfectly seasoned without any addition of salt, but I did add a generous amount of pepper and topped off with the sprinkle of parsley. So delicious... I could have eaten the whole thing myself! Thanks for a keeper!!!
