If I could give this recipe more stars I would. I have finally found the world's best chocolate chip cookie recipe (that uses butter and not shortening!). I have tried them all ... with pudding mix, with bread flour, you name it. I came very close to not trying this recipe thinking it would be one more mess of flat cookies, but it was just perfect. Without the nuts, these cookies also pass the "kid test" in our house. Thanks for sharing.

I have made this recipe several times, and since I'm so unorganized, I spend at least 20 min. or so looking this recipe up on 'zaar every time I need it. (Yes, this time for sure it's in my cookbook! and No, the search never worked for this one!). Anyway, it's the only choc chip recipe I use anymore. Had to give the recipe to a friend, too, who uses this one exclusively now too. Where can you go wrong w/3 cups of chocolate in a recipe?
And to quote an old song... "Baby, now that I've found you I won't let you go..."

This recipe produces a soft tasty cookie! I followed the recipe exactly but the recipe yielded 4 1/2 dozen instead of 6. The cookies retain their shape nicely.

These were truly the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever made. The held their shape nicely and weren't my usual flat cookies. I made them before New Year's and made sure to gobble some up before I started my diet on January 1! Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!

These are delicious. They stayed put on the pan while baking with very little spreading. This recipe makes tons of cookies - I got 7 dozen. I used Ghirardelli baking chips "double chocolate" flavor in these and skipped the nuts. Accurate, clear instructions and excellent flavor.

We thought these were good. They were a touch too dry, I like cookies a little more moist. Maybe the 3 cups of flour? But nonetheless, we did like these, and I think we will make them again.

World's Best? Probably! You've got my vote anyway! Gee, Karen, these are really great chocolate chippers. Followed your directions, except I omitted the walnuts/pecans, and they turned out sooooo good. Very easy to mix up and bake. Think I've found a brand new favorite! Thanks so much for sharing. I shaped these a bit smaller for cookie trays, which is why I don't they they were as chewy as Karen's photo. I might under bake a bit next time for a chewier effect! Very tasty none-the-less, and a nice addition to my 2008 Christmas gift trays along with Snowdrift Bars and Pepperidge Farm Sausalito Cookies. Thank you, Karen!
