11 Reviews of Senor Pico's Picante Sauce

Wonderful! I had some tomatoes that were going soft, about 3 cups, and I used that instead of one cup of tomatoes, keeping the other ingredients the same .. An excellent recipe! My husband loved this! Thanks for sharing, I will always use this recipe!

Made this with your rellenos recipe from the same place - they were great together. Thanks for posting them.

My compliments, Miss Annie, this is a nifty picante sauce recipe. I threw it together to use in Bev's "Dan's Favorite Tex Mex Skillet Dinner"...Gosh, it worked good. It's nice too because I had all the ingredients on hand. I can see where it's versatile...Will go fine on other Mexican dishes... Thanks for posting. Laudee

I also made this with the Senor Pico's chile rellenos recipe. Very good. I liked using the fresh ingredients, and adjusting the heat to our taste. I left it chunky (didn't puree) and didn't use the flour. Instead, I let it simmer until the liquid was reduced and thickened. Everyone enjoyed it very much.

What a great tasting sauce! I used two jalapeno and a cayenne chilli pepper. The depth and warmth of the chilli flavour was delicious.I pureed my sauce, but didn't make it completely smooth, just leaving a little textur.I also didn't bother to use the flour to thicken it,I didn't think that it needed it.This was added to taco meat with great success, and this morning I made breakfast enchiladas with it, to rave reviews.Thank you Miss Annie, for a great tasting easy recipe, that is so versatile.

This is the best picante sauce. I thought the taste and level of heat were just perfect. I will definitely be making this often and always keep some handy in the fridge. Thanks for the recipe!

Awesome! I used this to make Queso Beef Enchiladas. I did leave out the jalapenos because I was serving the dish to kids but they would add a nice kick to it. Thanks for posting, I will be using this recipe again!
