Excellent bread with easy to follow instructions. I used bread flour and kneaded (with Kitchenaid) for 15 minutes. Baked one loaf for dinner and rolled the second one out, sprinkled it with a bit of brown sugar, granulated sugar and cinnamon, rolled it up and let it rise overnight in refrigerator. This morning I set it in a barely warm oven for about an hour to finish rising and then baked cinnamon bread for breakfast. Thanks for the recipe!

I was looking for a good sandwich bread. After trying 4 different ones, this is the best one I have run into. Great texture, perfect for toast and sandwiches. I followed the directions exactly and got great results.

Wonderful sandwich bread. I cheated a bit and put all the ingredients (starting with the wet) in my bread machine on the dough cycle. I used butter for the shortening and since I didn't have anything to measure ounces I just used 3 tsp on yeast. Being that I know if I let the dough go thru the whole cycle it would overflow, I took it out after it was done kneading and divided into two loaves and let rise before putting in the oven. So that it wasn't so mushroomy looking, I put them in the oven just after it looked to be above the edge of the bread pans. It took about 25-30mins and was beautiful. Thanks so much for a keeper, I am on my second batch this morning. I started my first batch at about 6am and was done by about 8am
Very quick and easy!

I made this today using half white and half whole wheat flour. It's spectacular! I love that it doesn't require any milk or eggs, which makes this a very inexpensive bread to bake. This recipe is perfect for a beginner to learn how to make homemade bread. Great!

Just recent I got a new KitchenAid Stand Mixer and wanted to try some homade white bread. I decided on your recipe, and I loved it. Most breads I've made in the past seem heavy and dense in texture, but I enjoyed this light texture, and somewhat sweet taste. My picky kids even loved it and want more! The only change I made was adding 2 tsp of sugar to the warm water & yeast to "proof" since I've had incidents in the past with faulty yeast. Thanks for a wonderful recipe! This will be our new one for white bread.

Yummmmm! I'm so happy with this bread...it's wonderful. Nice and light and tasty. I found the rising time in the pans to be just an hour, so that was a bonus. This bread is better than the recipe I'd been using. Definitley a keeper.

This was my first attempt at making my own bread from scratch, I chose this out of all the others I looked at on this site. These came out SO delicious, I love them and so does the family. If you make this recipe, you will wish that you made double the amount, cause 2 loaves will go so fast. I ate a couple slices with soup, and tonight I had some toasted with butter spread and grape jelly, tomorrow I'm going to make a sandwich with them. The only changes I made was that I added a cup of whole wheat flour in place of a cup of the white. And I added a tsp of sugar to the water/yeast mixture at the beginning. Maybe that's not necessary, I thought that it might be. I can't wait to make this bread again! I wonder if I can substitute rapid rise yeast to make the process go faster?

i LOVE this bread recipe. so much better than the one i had been using, and simpler! i did it the first time making one white loaf and one cinnamon swirled one because sharlene-w made it sound so yummy. i loved it because it sliced so well and had a great texture. i made it the second time with 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 white. same perfect results. finally a bread that works for sandwiches. my husband thanks you!

I love this recipe. It reminds me of my mother's sweetbread. I find it to make wonderfull bread each time. I have made a variation, by using 2 cups wheat flour and 4 cups white flour, it had a wonderful nutty flavor.

Excellent bread! It was so easy and tasty to make. The loaves filled the pans so nicely and they looked so pretty. A real keeper. Thanks!
