Lorac I hope you don't mind but I took 2 liberties with this recipe. Firstly I used Canned Plum Juice (Italian Prune) and I added 4 drops of hot sauce. On the recipe you gave the option of using Pineaple juice or water but I had the plum juice - really wonderful. The consistency is perfect. Your instructions clear & straightforward. Just the right tang for the sweet & Sour flavor. I had left over cooked chicken, made this sauce and heated the chicken in it. served with Chinese fried rice Thanks Lorac for aquick easy recipe that I shall use again (next time I will try pineapple juice.

Great easy recipe! We loved it! It's our new sweet n sour sauce now instead of those canned ones where you don't know what is really in them. It tastes just like the sauce we get from the chinese shop thanks heaps for the recipe! I added large chunks of red capsicum and pineapple and onion to my sauce. I might use a little less sugar next time when adding the pineapple pieces as it made it a bit too sweet but GREAT!

Wow! I am no longer purchasing prepared sweet & sour sauce now that I have found this recipe. The taste is exactly like what I am buying in a jar and it is less expensive! I used it over stir fried veggies & rice and it was terrific. Also, I used the pineapple juice option.

This was very good. I added some red food coloring to give it that chinese restraunt look. I used the pineapple juice instead of water.

Great recipe! I doubled the recipe and realized after that I forgot to double the pineapple juice but it was still great. I actually prefered the sauce as thick as it was. I added 1 can of pineapple tidbits and used the juice from the can as the water added cooked meatballs Hubby-Will-Inhale-Them Meatballs and simmered until it was heated through and served it with rice. Thanks for posting!

This is a great and easy recipe. I made thsi and poured it over Chinese Wontons (from this site). What a FANTASTIC combo. I used water instead of pineapple juice because my mom isnt a huge pineapple fan. Out of many dishes, the wontons and this sauce were the first to empty. Surprisingly, my mom loved the sauce, the first sweet and sour sauce she ever liked. Will certainly make again. Thanks.

Thanks for the wonderful recipe Lorac.I added some fresh pineapple chunks, small squares of green pepper, and simmered the sauce gently for a few minutes. Will definitely make this recipe again.

This is a great sauce, my whole family loved it and it is unbelievably easy to make. I have searched for a good sweet and sour sauce for many years now. Finally I have found one that's not just as good as the restaurants, but even better. I tripled it so that all of us would have enough. It's a definite fix again.
