42 Reviews of Old Bay Shrimp Boil

From: Jenna Naquin

On May 31, 2003

From now on, this is the only way I want to cook boiled shrimp. We thought it was fantastic. I doubled the recipe and had two big pots of shrimp and vegetables brewing on the stove. My family and friends feasted all day. Everything was spicy but not too hot. Thanks Nurse Di. We are already planning another shrimp boil for later in June. Yipeeeee!!!

Very Good! I served this over the weekend. The kids looked at me funny as i dumped it all out on a covered table. I left out the beer because hubby is a recovering alcoholic however i am sure it would have made this recipe even better. I also multiplied the recipe x4 to feed 8 very big boys that can put away some food and there was very little left. 5 Stars from my family...Thanks NurseDi

I thought the recipe was good as it stands, however it wasn't nearly hot enough for me (and even less so for my husband). I did add a bit of cayenne to the mix knowing from the ingredients list that it wouldn't be spicy enough to suit our tastes. I thought that the potatoes were more than little bland, but the corn came out delicious! I think next time I would brown the sausage hunks a bit before adding them to the pot to render out some of the fat and (more importantly) to give it a little better "bite".

This was finger-lickin' good shrimp. When I have boiled shrimp in the past, I never put anything else in the pot with it. I loved the idea of getting a complete dinner from one pot. I liked the flavor of the Old Bay Seasoning. This was much easier than I thought it would be. Thanks--will do this one again.

This was a winner! I followed the recipe exactly and we ate until we were stuffed! I'll be telling my friends about this recipe.

NurseDi, you've got a winner here! I made this last week with only one change - I left out the beer. The whole family enjoyed this and has already asked me to make it again. Thanks for a great recipe!

this is without a doubt the best tasting shrimp boil i have ever had.it is one of the easiest recipes i have ever used.i added scallops and snow crab using only half of the shrimp.i will make this many more times using different variations of seafood.

Wow, we had a wonderful shrimp boil thanks to this recipe. I didn't leave out any ingredients and the flavor or the shrimp, sausage, and vegetables was wonderful. Old Bay seasoning is awesome. A lot easier than I expected, too. Thanks for a great recipe.

Had been over to some friends about a week ago and something close to this was prepared. Decided I wanted to do the same so started looking for a recipe. Found this and decided to try. Turned out great. Beer wasn't used and I used little red potatoes and pearl onions. All my guests raved and thought it was a great dinner. Thanks!

Now, y'know part of the charm is how you serve this. I like the pail/bucket idea, but my experience is to cover a table with a garbage bag or two (to waterproof), then with newspaper, and simply schmear some chunks of butter, ketchup, and perhaps cocktail sauce in each corner, and dig in. A very fun, very carnal way to share food with your friends. I'd also suggest throwing in a few halved lemons...I'm taking our turkey fryer to my mom's this Labor Day weekend to do just this. Thanks, NurseDi!
