I made this cake over the weekend to bring to a friends house.... Outstanding classic tasting chocolate pound cake, simple and easy. It was almost gone before we left! I used dutch processed cocoa, unsalted butter and unbleached cake flour...

I used this recipe again this morning. I baked the cakes in 2 loaf pans and when they were cool, I sliced them lengthwise. I layered the cakes with choc mouse and choc ganache and frosted them with choc buttercream frosting. This was for a coffe gathering this morning. It was soooooooooooooooooooooo decadent and rich and sooo good! What a hit! Very easy recipe to make a bakery quality (far better) treat. Try it for company! Thanks!

After I made this and let it cool,I tasted a piece and thought there wasn't much of a flavor to it.But as Chef Marg,had said it tasted better the next day,and it does .So, if you are going to make this cake,make it the day before you want to serve it.The flavors seem to blend better when it sits overnight.Thank you for posting.

A nice pound cake but not as dense or as moist as I like them. We noticed those qualities were better on the second day so I recommend making it the day before you need to serve it.
