38 Reviews of Amish Sour Cream Apple Pie

From: Lois In Saskatchewan

On Aug 25, 2002

My family fell in love with this pie. I found it easy to make - the only thing is that I needed a larger pie plate than 9 inch.

I used our very own home grown Granny Smith's to make this wonderful pie. I also used half Splenda for the filling, and half brown sugar Sugar Twin for the topping with great results. It was very easy to make, and was a big hit with hubby! Thanks Miss Annie!

I've made this pie several times. It is so moist. I use splenda instead of regular sugar and you can not tell the difference. When ever I am making an apple pie, which is pretty often, I log onto recipezaar and retrieve this receipe. Heck

Quick to make, a little sweet but delicious! Used 4 cups of apples to fill the pie plate. Thank you!

This was so easy to make and very delicious. I made it 3 times now. The directions should include the need for a "deep dish" crust and the fact the butter works better melted. It is almost cheese cake like when done so...delicious.

The flavor was great! I used a shortbread crust instead as I hate rolling out pastry. I only used 3 granny smiths and had more than enough apples, although I sliced them, I didn't dice them. Super easy to make. Even better the second day. BUT the apples stay crunchy! Just to warn those like me that prefer soft apples in their pie. Not dry, perfect filling! Loved the vanilla, I added a little extra oh and some nutmeg, but shouldn't have bothered, couldn't taste the nutmeg. I didn't like the topping the night I made the pies but the next day It was all perfectly melded and not too sweet. I suggest letting this pie rest at least 12 hours before eating, just to help with flavors. Super yummy!
