Made this for Father's day with spaetzle. The whole family Loved it! Great chicken! Thank you! UPDATE: Just have to update...was in a hurry to get to ball game and had chicken out. My daughter requested "that german chicken". Browned the chicken and put it all in the crockpot on high for 4 hours. Was perfect when we got home!

The whole family loved this dish! I can not believe that! How often does that happen, eh? LOL I didnt change a thing in the recipe. But, silly me, forgot to add the sour cream until everyone was on their second bowls, and it just made the dish even more scrumptious! (And we had thought it was great before the sour cream). Served this with some hot sweet rolls as I didnt have egg noodles (which would have been great) or anything in the pantry to make dumplings. Grocery day is tomorrow LOL

This is the second time I cook with Hungarian paprika and I am hooked. The chicken was so tender in the flavorful sauce. Since I just want an easy meal, I served my chicken with warm french bread and a tossed saled. Thanks for posting, we had an extremely satisfying meal.

I made this before and it turned out lovely. This time Im using chicken breasts, cut into cubes and serving over wide egg noodles with fresh baked bread. I prefer the ease of chicken breasts and running into a missed bit of fat makes my physically ill, like nails down a chalkboard. Either way though, this dish has a wonderful flavor.... cook with the windows open or your place will smell of paprika for ages!

This is the closest recipe I've found to my dear grandmother's version. My family loved it, even those that think they don't like sour cream.

I have made this many times since it is just like my grandmother's recipe. It is wonderful! I serve mine on wide noodles.

Excellent! I used low fat sour cream for my version which does make it a little less tasty but we don't mind. The DH grew up eating this and it's grown to be one of my top 10 favorites as well. Serve with Spaetzle #53605. Be careful not to burn the paprika when cooking onions, it will significantly affect the overall flavor of the dish.

This is excellent. A new family favorite. Only changes I made was using all chicken breasts and I made a slurry with 1/4 cup of flour and added to sauce before adding sour cream. I served over wide egg noodles.

Used skinless, boneless breast halves. Otherwise, followed the recipe as written. Chicken was tender and moist. Next time will add mushrooms, and thicken the gravy with flour.
