14 Reviews of Mom's Italian Meatloaf

Everyone loved this meatloaf! I thought there was going to be too much breadcrumbs, but it was just fine. I actually ran slices of bread through the food processor and made them crumbs instead of cubes. The only thing I changed was to omit the salt because I knew it was too much for our salt sensitive palates and did not want it to reflect in the rating. There was plenty of salt from the tomato sauce, cheese and butter for us. Thanks SweetsLady!

Thanks Sherry for a very filling and satisfying sunday dinner for DH and DS#3. The combination of spices and ingredients was a perfect combination. So glad I could try one of your mom's recipes and glad I tagged. Made for Feb. Bev. Tag 08 Adding 5 stars to this recipe as the first time it didn't go thru

Very moist and Italian tasting! I used 20 oz ground turkey and made up the difference with some TVP. We were too lazy to use real onions, so we threw some dried minced ones in and didn't have the mozzarella, but it was really tasty. I would say one loaf is about 6-8 servings, so using the turkey and leaving out the cheese significantly reduces the fat.

Man, oh man, is this good! It got a resounding 5-star rating from everyone at the dinnertable tonight, and they were even trying to sneak bites off each others' plates when someone wasn't paying attention. I had to leave out all dairy products for dietary reasons, so soaked my breadcrumbs in homemade vegetable stock instead. I used olive oil to saute the onions, and just skipped the cheese altogether. But let me tell you, this doesn't need the embellishment of cheese — it is a fantastic meatloaf recipe. Thanks, SweetsLady!

This was a very tasty meatloaf that our whole family enjoyed. My youngest asked if I would make meatloaf like this all the time. They loved the sauce and cheese on top.

My mother's meatloaf was ok, but I sure wish she was alive to try this one, as I'm sure she would agree that it is definitely a much better version. O' Solo Mio! We just love Italian seasoned food like this.

We enjoyed this meatloaf tonight for dinner. My oldest son LOVED that it had tomato sauce on top instead of ketchup! Thanks for a nice, Italian twist on an old favorite.

I love meatloaf, ate it as a kid all the time. Problem is my family doesn't care for it. I have been searching for a recipe that they would enjoy and definitely did in this one. I think the Italian twist is what did it. This was such an easy recipe, followed exact and it was a hit with my family. So glad I picked this one in Market tag! Thanks for the recipe. YUM!!! ~V
