This recipe makes a nice hearty bread that is much healthier than most. I opted to use 4 tbsp of sugar and skip the splenda, and I also left out the butter on the top. Instead, I sprinkled the with sesame seeds. It was great warm shortly after coming out of the oven, and also was great the next day smeared with fig preserves. This one is a winner. BTW, I used a Bud Light beer and the beer flavor was barely noticable (which is what I wanted).

This is the best beer bread recipe I've tried so far. It has a lovely flavor. It is a good solid bread but not too dense. I used Killian's Irish Red beer, all sugar and light butter. I served it with stew. I usually like to let the dough set on the counter for about 15 minutes so it can rise a little before baking, but I didn't have time with this recipe. That's why I was so thrilled with how much it rose and how light it was compared to other recipes I have tried. I'll be making this one again!

This was EASY to make and made a nice and HEARTY bread. I have to admit I used regular Guiness stout because it's what my husband bought. The dough seemed very thick and rubbery so I had to just put the whole gob in a bread pan and smooth it out. In the end, although a little lumpy on the top it had nice soft slices. I think this would be great with honey in it. Thanks for the recipe!

This is great beer bread! I love the full body the wheat and bread flour give this. I ended up having to use a bit more than the 12 oz of beer called for in the recipe to bring the batter together. It was done in exactly 1 hour. Thank you, Brooke the Cook in WI!

Excellent!! This bread smelled soooo good in my oven I couldn't wait to try it! I used a beer called long trail (very bitter) and there ended up being just a subtle taste of beer. Thanks to the melted butter, the outside was just so crunchy and tasty, the inside perfectly soft. Great healthier beer bread recipe, this is one of my new favs!

We really enjoyed this. It was so easy and quick to put together. I substituted sugar for the Splenda since I avoid artificial sweeteners. I baked it for only 50 minutes (my oven runs hot or something). The outside was very crispy and crunchy and the inside was soft and moist. When the beer is added to the dry ingredients, I was surprised that the texture of the batter comes out kind of like a yeast dough. Mine looked exactly like Bev's picture. Will make again. Thanks!

This was great. A nice light texture in spite of the whole wheat flour.

I like beer bread, so easy and with good flavour and texture. This was made even better, by using whole wheat flour, we loved it. I didn't use the splenda, I used three generous tablespoons of brown sugar. I used a 340 ml bottle of Hansa Pilsner beer - just happened to have it in the pantry! Thanks for a great recipe, Brooke! Oh my. This bread is awsome. So tender and dense. Great flavor. I will be making it again very soon. Thanks for the great recipe.
