29 Reviews of Maple Krispie Cookies

From: BirdyBaker

On Dec 17, 2004

Made these a while back to give as Christmas gifts and am only getting around to reviewing now. This is an extremely simple yet totally awesome recipe. JUST DONT EAT THEM RIGHT AWAY! I gave my mom a cookie to sample when they were fresh out of the oven and her comment was that the cookies were "so-so". However, that night my mom samples another and declared that they were delicious. Much tastier and crispier than fresh out of the oven. Im sure the people on my Xmas list will be thrilled to be receiving these little gems. Thanks for a great, quick recipe.

I've tried cake mix cookies before, but they just tasted like cookie-shaped cake. These are great. I think the Rice Krispies give it a special touch. I also used 2 tsp of maple, but it's hard to taste it after all the sugar from the cake mix. No problem for those of us w/a chronic sweet tooth. I agree that it's easy to overcook these, but when they're crispy they just melt in your mouth. I liked that I could whip these up fast, and then cram them all on to 1 big cookie sheet to cook all at once. They weren't all evenly cooked, and they did touch sides, but they came apart fine and I like having chewy and crispy all from the same batch, LOL! These are a great last-minute dessert because of their fast prep. Thanks, MizzNezz, for another winner!

What a delicious way to start 2003! These cookies are wonderful, as are Karen Monahan's Lemon version (Lemon Krisp #27546) and seem sinfully easy to prepare. Thanks to these 2 recipes I've become a fan of cake mix cookies and only feel slightly guilty making them. Another big plus in my view is that I have made them both as written, and with my reduced fat trick of replacing half the butter with applesauce (1/4 cup of each to make 1/2 cup "fat") and cannot tell the difference. I noticed that someone commented that they spread too much and were crispy rather than soft - I've not had that happen and wonder if they have an oven thermometer. At any rate, thanks Inez for another winner (and your chocolate peanut butter fudge is awesome as well!)!!!

I loved these the first time I made them. This time I added 1 c. of butter brickle skor chips and baked them longer, until golden brown...about 20 min. Wow. Wow! It's a keeper!

I just loved these! I'm a maple fanatic, so I used 2 tsps of maple flavoring. I cooked them for 12 minutes but I think next time (and there will definitely be a next time) I'll only go to 10 mins ... I'd prefer them w/a bit of chewiness to them.

Good tasting; extremely quick and easy; and some versatility because I think you could make some additions or substitutions to your own taste. I used a Yellow Cake Mix (did not have a White one) — worked just fine. I baked the first pan about 12 mins... and the second pan about 10 mins. It was great because the longer baking time gives you a really crisp cookie, and the shorter time makes them pleasantly soft. This is a super great recipe for 'cookies in a hurry'... and yummy to boot!

These treats are "hauntingly divine"! Wish I could bring the whole sky down for you for this one. These were enjoyed by all and I had to hide some for my dad who is out of town at the moment. Once these were baked(after step 5), I let these remain in the oven for 35 minutes. After that, I removed them onto a wire rack and allowed to cool completely. Then, stored them in an airtight container. Thank you for the incredible cookies

Very easy, very good and very versatile recipe. I was hesitant to use the full teaspoon of maple flavoring as my hubby is not a big fan of maple so I took a teaspoon filled it about half with the maple, then some vanilla and then some almond extract to make a teaspoon. They came out "butterscotch" tasting and my family loved them. I would say they were somewhat in the snickerdoodle family if that helps. I definitely think this is a basic very quick and easy cookie recipe that can be played with by changing the cake mix and the flavoring used. Devils food with vanilla and some nuts added might make a brownie like cookie etc. This recipe is definitely one you want to have and you will use!

Easy and tasty! I agree with the other reviewer who said these are better after they sit awhile or even the next day. The maple flavor is lovely; the maple flavoring could even be increased a bit for my tastes. Thanks. MizzNezz, for a simple treat!
