This was a special treat, because Dad HATES the smell of fried eggs and complains piteously whenever anyone in the house makes one (I picked a day when he wasn't going to be home all day). I used oat nut bread (toasted and buttered, because that's how I like it), Kraft Singles for the cheese (didn't have any Cheez Whiz on hand, thought Kraft singles were the next best thing), and Heinz Hot and Spicy Ketchup (I don't care for Thousand Island dressing). I probably cooked my egg more than most, too, since I prefer my egg yolk fully cooked. I had to make a second sandwich once Gram smelled the egg cooking, because she loves fried eggs and never gets to eat them because of Dad. Very good sandwich, thanks for posting!

Wonderful little concoction for breakfast (or a very quick supper). I never would've thought of using Dressing for this! My kids also like home-made barbecue sauce or ketchup, and I like a smear of mayonnaise or honey-dijon mustard, too. Definitely a KEEPER!

This made a great lunch along with a salad! The cheez whiz was pretty good in this. I used dark wheat bread. Thank you Laffer!

I followed the recipe just as it's written using whole grain mill bread. It made a delicious lunch. Thanks for posting. Made for ZWT4

I make a breakfast sandwich that is very similar to this. I broke the egg yolk while the egg was cooking because I didn't want my egg to be runny. I added some ham, and I also spread some mayonnaise on the bread as I was putting the sandwich together before returning it to the frying pan. I loved the spiciness of the red pepper flakes. I will be making my breakfast sandwich this way often in the future. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful recipe, Laffer. Made for ZWT4.

Egg sandwiches are so easy and tasty. I made mine on sourdough bread and used shredded mild cheddar cheese. Added a pinch of red pepper flakes and used butter instead of margarine. DH would love these for a weekend lunch or supper. Might try adding a few pieces of bacon before grilling next time. Made and reviewed for ZWT 4.

Simple, quick and delicious. That will always rate 5 stars in my book. I love egg sandwiches and liked that this one was grilled. I used butter instead of margarine and added red pepper flakes for a little zip. Made for ZWT4. Thanks for posting Laffer.

This is really good and it's going to be one of my fast and filling breakfasts from now on. I added some Canadian bacon to this as well. Made for ZWT4 for the Tastebud Tickling Travellers.

I made this for my oldest dd for breakfast today. I used cheddar cheese and added some Canadian bacon and made the toasted cheese sandwich first, fried the egg second, and slipped the egg in afterward (the side with the bacon doesn't stick to the bread). She really enjoyed this despite the messiness while eating it. I am sure she will ask for it again. Made for my Babes for ZWT4 Cananda.
